Holder Orders Reporters: You Can't Meet With Me If You Report What I Say
Attorney General Eric Holder is running into early resistance from news organizations as he tries to hold meetings with their Washington bureau chiefs over his department's surveillance of reporters -- with the organizations balking at Holder's attempt to keep the sessions off the record.
Holder, who agreed to conduct a review of DOJ guidelines over investigations that involve journalists, has set up meetings with members of the media for Thursday and Friday. Fox News was invited to attend the Friday session at Justice Department headquarters in Washington.
The department, though, wants the meetings to be off the record, meaning the discussions would not be reportable.
The Associated Press issued a statement saying it wants any meeting to be on the record, meaning it could be the subject of news stories. And The New York Times said it won't attend because of the department's off-the-record ground rules.
Both the Associated Press and Fox News had their phone records pulled by the Justice Department, in the course of two separate leak investigations. The department went a step further in the Fox News case, seizing the personal emails of correspondent James Rosen, while accusing him of being a criminal "co-conspirator" in the application for the search warrant.

Tyranny.
From the most transparent administration ever!
What if we report what you did NOT say? Like we do with conservatives?
He must be getting scared.
Will Fox send Whoraldo or Shep to cover RosenGate?
Why not be open and transparent about tyhe law?
(Of course it's difficult to follow the law if you don't know what it is.)
Holder the lowlife is trapping these fools and they will fall for it.
He is going to say things off the record and wait to see who leaks it. Why else would he ask reporters to come to an OTR meeting.
It’s either that or he’s going to threaten them even more.
Translucent at best, opaque to the honest bystander.
Agree to his terms then attend and report on it anyway. The media has no problem doing that with conservatives. Besides, what’s Holder gonna do, get another subpoena to suppress the cheerleaders of Obama?
wait to see who leaks it.
Yup, with all the taps up and running should be fairly easy especially when they intercept phone calls by satillite.
Holder is gone.. being replaced by Deval Patrick. He’s just setting up to be the horrible awful big fish fall guy who was responsible for every ‘controversy’ poshitus is facing today.
Like a sea cucumber which throws its guts out to distract attackers from eating its body.
The great part is the MSM telling him to take a hike, naturally Mika was on this morning dissing them for not going along.
"We are pleased to report that AG Holder's replacment is
Deval Patrick who will bring to the DO"J" the quality
assurance that he brought to the Massachusetts Drug Lab.
We WILL bring Dookhan-quality testing for the entire USA'!!!!!"
and the order goes out from the withHolder. Will the press be holdering his worm.
How this man is still in office and not in chains, boggles the mind.
Lets do a little thought exercise:
Reporters walk into the room. Holder says “I’m completely innocent of these allegations. Had nothing to do with anything and am vigorously investigating everything”.
Why would he not want that reported?
Flip side:
Reporters walk into the room. Holder says “I had no choice but to go after these reporters at FOX. I authorized it because of ....whatever...”
I don’t see any other reason why he would want this chat off the record unless there is something he plans to share that makes him, Obama or another significant person in the admin look bad (or criminally liable).
I mean, if he’s done nothing wrong what’s he gaining by speaking off the record?
I think many reporters love to talk to themselves ,so LOL
Dittos. Let’s Go Fishin’
