Although it cant be positively confirmed, though maybe its just self-evident, a majority of state senators in the Golden State are itching to push through their pro-gun control agenda, approving at least seven bills on Wednesday that further restrict the rights of law-abiding gun owners, including one bill that would set up an ammo registry.
Thats correct, under Senate Bill 53, responsible gun owners would be required to submit personal information to the state, undergo a background check and pay a $50 fee before being allowed to buy ammunition. Their information would be stored in a state database controlled by the Justice Department and the individual would have to present photo ID at a gun store upon making an ammo purchase.
Additionally, gun dealers and ammo vendors would be required to obtain special permits to sell ammunition. Those gun owners or gun dealers/ammo vendors who fail to follow the law would face misdemeanor charges.
Excerpt from SB 53:
(1) Existing law requires the Attorney General to maintain records, including among other things, fingerprints, licenses to carry concealed firearms, and information from firearms dealers pertaining to firearms, for purposes of assisting in the investigation of crimes, and specified civil actions.
This bill would require the Attorney General to also maintain copies of ammunition purchase permits, information about ammunition transactions, as specified, and ammunition vendor licenses, as specified, for those purposes.
Sen. Kevin De Leon (D-Los Angeles), the bills sponsor, spoke to the LA Times about the objective of SB 53, which according to him is to ensure that criminals and other dangerous individuals cannot purchase ammunition in the state of California.
To purchase a product that has the potential to maim or kill another human being you can (now) walk into a gun store, no questions asked,

I thought I read a couple of days ago that California is rolling in the money now.
Only those who comply will lose their 2A rights. The rest will retain them, but, like Winston Smith in “1984”, will become criminals.

I don’t know about that but several of their cities are broke.
The next product for muslim smugglers, ammo.
They ought to try to register the illegal aliens, and leave us the hell alone!
How about an illegal alien registry? You know, so there will be “documentation”.
another! hahaha!
California Faces a New Quandary, Too Much Money

It isn't (really) about the guns, ammo, etc. What it really is about is fascists looking for control. Impeding our ability to stand up to them and fight back is just a bonus.
In the 20th century it cost several tens of millions of lives to learn that fascism and communism don't work - they only spread misery and death. Seems the human race forgets the lesson of liberty every generation or two and has to re-learn it the hard way. Looks like we're headed that way again.
Does Nevada and Arizona have strict ammo purchase rules? Could be a real profitable business to invest in..
He means “pressure cookers”. No more beef stew, folks. No more Irish corned beef, either.
More like Stalin’s rules in the good old days. Or was it Hitler’s rules on Jews owning certain things? Or both?
Hail the People’s Republic of Californication!
Don’t give these hammerheads any ideas.
You bet. But I’m sure Pelosi, Boxer, Feinstein and others are so excited that they can walk down any main street in California without having any armed security. And just think when Obama goes to California to raise more money he won’t have to take his secret security police or his armored car along. All is now safe.
Many will see no reason to observe or enforce an unconstitutional law. I suspect that some California counties will go to the courts and enact measures to nullify such unconstitutional laws.
Forget that. More people are killed each year from beatings with hands and feet than are killed by rifles - any/all rifles. So forget an "assault weapons ban" since so-called "assault rifles" account for an even smaller percentage of deaths than all rifles combined. I want to see junior registered with the state before you let him take that karate class. Maybe they should mandate ankle trackers on all martial arts students and practitioners?
Oh, while we're at it, better register and background check anyone purchasing a hammer at a home improvement store or hardware store. Seems you're also more likely to be bludgeoned to death with a hammer than shot/killed with a rifle. Maybe they should mandate micro-stamping of hammer heads?
Photo ID required to buy ammo? Heyyyyyy... I thought Democrats were AGAINST PHOTO ID because it discriminates against the less fortunate, like it does when it comes to voting! This means people in low income neighborhoods won’t be able to buy ammo.. THEY’RE GONNA BE MURDERED NOW BECAUSE OF DEMOCRATS!!! OOOOHH THE HUGE MANATEES!!!
My wife and I love to travel with our Airstream trailer in tow. We are well armed when we travel. California will not be on our list of places to visit. I like the California weather, countryside and some of the beaches, but it’s no longer worth the risk.
“Shall not be infringed”.. Is anyone challenging these illegal Bills with lawsuits?
The Cop who testified made perfect sense.
