On one hand Kudos..we need the freemarket in higher ed...on the other I hope this doesnt water down existing graduates degrees.
no reason this can’t be done with undergrad work as well.
I hope this is the first of many liberal indoctrinated education bubbles to pop. I got 4 kids nearing college age.
Honestly the world would probably flourish if we eliminated half the degrees, and made an emphasis on technical degrees. Too many degree holders out their who feel entitled.
bfl
But when will a Masters degree in 4th. Century Tibetan Poetry be given on-line?
I don't really mind any degree existing, but I do have opinions on what is worth the cost. However, if universities lower the cost of all degrees, it makes the more marginable degrees that someone may get not for money but for pleasure that much easier to get, and people may get more education.
This is a fantastic development. Online education will change education, mostly for the better, more than it has in the last 1000 years.
Actually that's just around the corner!
But for now, you can get a degree[stealing from Wilkow] in 15th century hair lip handicap lesbian poetry!!
There are a lot of free courseware videos from MIT online as well. I started seeing those about 4 years ago. You may not get a degree but you can sit in a few recorded classes to see if you find a particular subject interesting. That’s much better than paying for classes before you find out you hate the subject.
Me too. College is way too expensive. I have too many family members that are suffering from ridiculous student loan debt. It’s criminal what’s happened to some people.

Does it matter?
Ping!
GT was on our top five list last year for daughter, Chem E major, but due to location and out of state tuition we opted for somewhere else. Will be interesting to follow the next few years, she still has 3 years undergraduate to go.
War Eagle!
I was a joke. I get Rush Limbaugh here on streaming radio. Have to be up late to listen. One day a caller to his show complained of having a Masters degree and couldn’t get a job. Rush asked what it was in. The caller replied “Classical Studies” - Rush was a bit gobsmacked on that.
To Hell with Georgia!
My son is going to a Community College his first 2 years to cut down on cost. He wants to go into Computer science, so this is great news! And this should totally be done with Bachelor degrees!
Agreed. And the marketplace will handle the degree quality issues.
