A busload of nuns will be road warriors for the next three weeks as they take their campaign to achieve comprehensive immigration reform on the road.
Nuns on the Bus, a project of the national Catholic social justice lobby Network, kicked off their 40-city, 6,500-mile bus ride at Liberty State Park in Jersey City this morning. The tour ends at San Francisco's Angel Island, the Ellis Island of the west coast.
Sister Simone Campbell of Washington, D.C., one of the leaders of the group, said the immigration project has "taken on a life of its own." Last year, the group engaged in a bus tour that was focused on raising the public's consciousness about poverty.
"It's important to cast light on the 11 million people living in the shadows because they're undocumented," said Sister Arlene Flaherty about this year's road trip.

Because they’re German and that = Nazis - the bad socialists. Plus they homeschool = reactionaries and likely Christians.
It would be a cold day in hell before that happened. The German family are Evangelicals
This is not what Nuns are supposed to do. It must be an outlaw band of Dykes out for a vacation.
If it isn’t the Church should be ashamed for allowing them to use the Catholic Church for such a purpose.
I have the greatest respect for Nuns who wear habits and love Jesus. The others are just feminists in disguise.
Why can’t a ruling authority put a stop to this unseemly behavior of activist nuns?
'Sisters on the Bus'. These apostate nitwits can't even be honest about what they really are.
What is the point of this? All the good immigrants already came decades ago, and helped build this country by WORKING HARD.
Most of the other immigrants that want in, would kill us all if they had the chance, or lazy ass gangbanger Mexicans. Of course, there are exceptions to both crowds.
I cannot understand how we got to this point.
I never knew a nun ... and we called them ‘sisters’ .. not nuns ... without a habit until around that time also.
I think you mean FEMINIST DYKES in disguise
These nutcase “nuns” are in open rebellion with the Vatican and with Pope Francis now in charge it’s a matter of time before they are excommunicated. As a write this the Archbishop of Seattle Peter Sartain is conducting a former investigation of these characters requested by the Vatican.

The last time Nuns on the Bus rolled out of town the bus was almost empty: only two made the entire trip, and never were there more than seven on the (luxury) bus at any one time. Today, they are leaving from Jersey City and will end their magical mystery tour in San Francisco. The gig is being funded by Organizing for Action (OFA).
Interestingly, the website address of OFA is barackobama.com; it was set up earlier this year as a means of implementing the Obama agenda. While the nuns are promoting immigration reform, OFA is also advocating ObamaCare, a component of which is the anti-Catholic Health and Human Services Mandate. But these nuns, who expressly eschew commenting on abortion, are not troubled by such matters.
OFA is a 501(c)(4) non-profit organization. Unlike conservative groups who previously filed for this status, OFA has not been subjected to harassment. Small wonder. It also helps when a 501(c)(4) launches before applying for tax-exempt status; it has yet to do so. Also, OFA pledges to disclose the names of donors who give more than $250 on its website. It says it will do so on a quarterly basis, but this is untrue: it has been in operation for over four months, but has yet to do so; it says it will make these disclosures in the near future.
On the Nuns on the Bus website, it lists a job opening for a Field Coordinator. Unsurprisingly, nowhere in the job description does it say anything about a commitment to Catholic teachings. Indeed, the word Catholic doesnt even appear. The closest it comes is a sentence about the spiritual side of the Nuns on the Bus. Here is what it says: On the spiritual side, we need someone who can keep our community as motivated as they were the day the bus rolled into town and to capture that motivation and turn it into action.
Thats as close as Nuns on the Bus is going to get about matters spiritualnever mind Catholictaking action on behalf of Obama.

The thing is that the Church is not a monolithic dictatorship with strict HR direction. And with Vatican II as a further widening of the gap between the US and the Vatican, the moral drift started to become very noticeable. However, the mechanisms for correcting heresy (which never have been that immediately powerful any time in Church history) were also lessened.
Remember that the Church measures time in centuries, not weeks. And its correction, unfortunately, takes decades, if not centuries. Look at the Church response to heresies throughout its history.
You mean, you addressed them with the title, “sister”.
But they were still nuns.
“Hey, Sister... that’s a baaaaaad habit...”
:)
sistah says ....
we will meet them in bakersfield and tell them to shove their immigration reform ideas up their ass. they should donate that bus to ice to run illegals back to the border.
