Actually, it might be a stretch to call this a retirement. Rep. Michele Bachmann announced last night that she would not seek a fifth term in the House from Minnesotas 6th Congressional district in this nearly nine-minute valediction. As The Week notes, however, Bachmann doesnt say shes retiring from politics or even electoral politics, which means she may have something else in mind already (via Andrew Malcolm):

On Monday, Politico speculated that Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.), the bomb-throwing conservative and onetime Republican presidential candidate, faced an existential threat in 2014. Bachmann may be the congresswoman with nine lives, said Politicos Alex Isenstadt, but between a swirl of investigations into her campaign finances and a looming rematch with hotelier Jim Graves, a Democrat who almost unseated her in 2012 and who is already beating her in some polls her luck may have run out.
On Tuesday night, Bachmann announced via a YouTube video (watch above) that she wont seek re-election in 2014. In the video, the Tea Party leader rejected the idea that she was being hounded out of office, saying her decision was not impacted in any way by the recent inquiries into the activities of my former presidential campaign or my former presidential staff and expressing confidence that she would have beaten Graves.....

Should be an interesting remaining 18 months or so.
She’s long since learned that she won’t get cover from her party. She might as well kamikaze the RINO brigade.
I predict she will run for the seat occupied now by Sen. Al Franken.
She should move to SC and primary McCain’s wife for that senate seat.
Her job is done. She helped clear the way for Romney (along with Santorum), now it’s time for her to ride off into the Sunset.
Thanks for nothing Bachmann
There they go again with the violent imagery...Ever seen anyone described as a “bomb-throwing” , “fire-breathing” , “attack dog” , “hot-headed” PROGRESSIVE??? /s;)
Response: In Washington speak Bachman's statement means her decision "WAS IMPACTED" by the "recent inquiries into the activities of her former presidential staff" and she figuered out Graves, in fact, would beat her in the next election.
I hope she stays involved with the Tea Party at the national level. She proved herself an asset to right-thinking conservative Americans.
Il pay to have it reupostered before she sits in it
“I predict she will run for the seat occupied now by Sen. Al Franken.”
God I hope so. She probably got sick of fighting the triumverate of evil, Boehner, Cantor and McCarthy. They froze her out of the GOP leadership positions and dissed her at every turn. Thats because she was trying to thwart their attempts to betray all of us and usher in amnesty and tax the internet and god knows what else.
Huh? What’s that about?
Crissy matthews is getting another tingle.
Hmmmmm. I was very uspet at this news...at first.
Then I started thinking, why would such a great patriot WANT to stay amongst the roaches, unless there is something else in mind.
Could be hopeful, prayerful thinking, but that’s all I’ve got.
I really hope Michele retires and never seeks public office again, especially POTUS.
She may never seek another office, but she gets to keep every penny in her campaign fund. No refunds for the suckers.
Thanks 2ndDivisionVet.
If I were her, I’d quit too.
I’m tired of fighting nasty liberal and know-it-all “conservatives”.
The country is screwed - nothing is going to save it now.
