Authorities have identified 19-year-old Matthew Sykora of Yuma as the teen who came across an armed homeowner in the middle of the night during a possible home invasion.
Yuma County Sheriff's deputies arrived to the home in the area of S. Avenue D and County 14th at 1:22 a.m. to find the Yuma teen dead from a single gunshot wound.
Sheriff deputies said the homeowner called 911 to report being woken up after hearing sounds in the home.
The homeowner has not been named.
Records show, this was not the teen's first time in trouble with the law; in January of 2012, Sykora was charged with felony counts of theft and fraudulent schemes.
But this time, the run-in was fatal.

Awww. Only 19. my heart goes out to the homeowner who had to interrupt his sleep and use an expensive bullet to protect his rights.

Thank God this man lives in a country where its people are free to defend themselves from scum who want to prey on honest people. To HELL with liberals that want to take that freedom away and make us all sitting ducks to criminals.

For crying out loud - The perp was in the guy's home in the middle of the night!
And you don't just "come across" a homeowner in his own home in the middle of the night if you are just on your way to the 7-11 for a bag of Skittles.
There was more in the story about the homeowner and the law to defend one’s house than the DRT home invader.
Certainly cleaned up the gene pool...

When you break into a man’s home in the middle of the night while he is sleeping you are up to no good. This so called journalist has been taking a creative writing course, talk about distorting the truth.
Handgun rounds can take hours to obtain these days.
The HO probably couldn’t sleep, got in his ride, and headed downtown to scour the streets for a vagrant to drag back to the compound and shoot.
The late Matthew Sykora is the 19 year old who had broken into the home of a weapons owner who used said weapon. The kid is white, btw.
I’m taking it that Matthew Sykora is white, I don’t hear Jesse or Al!
That’s what the story doesn’t want I tell you. He “Came across” the homeowner inside the homeowners house! And in the middle of the night Not very precise use of the language (intentional I’m sure)
