Around 1250 A.D., historical records show, ice packs began showing up farther south in the North Atlantic. Glaciers also began expanding on Greenland, soon to threaten Norse settlements on the island. From 1275 to 1300 A.D., glaciers began expanding more broadly, according to radiocarbon dating of plants killed by the glacier growth. The period known today as the Little Ice Age was just starting to poke through.
Summers began cooling in Northern Europe after 1300 A.D., negatively impacting growing seasons, as reflected in the Great Famine of 1315 to 1317. Expanding glaciers and ice cover spreading across Greenland began driving the Norse settlers out. The last, surviving, written records of the Norse Greenland settlements, which had persisted for centuries, concern a marriage in 1408 A.D. in the church of Hvalsey, today the best preserved Norse ruin. Colder winters began regularly freezing rivers and canals in Great Britain, the Netherlands and Northern France, with both the Thames in London and the Seine in Paris frozen solid annually. The first River Thames Frost Fair was held in 1607. In 1607-1608, early European settlers in North America reported ice persisting on Lake Superior until June. In January, 1658, a Swedish army marched across the ice to invade Copenhagen. By the end of the 17th century, famines had spread from northern France, across Norway and Sweden, to Finland and Estonia.

Fossil Fuels includes petroleum, gasses, coal and their byproducts and variations.
For most of the country, the old adage of “if you don’t like the weather, just stick around a day or so” has been replaced with “Al Gore was right!”
Sad, really.
Yes, but here in Miami, we are experiencing mid 80’s in late May. I am not complaining. Even though the sun rays can still cook an egg, you can get in the shade and not feel like you are dying.
If they can stop Mother Gaia’s hot flashes, I demand they do the same for me!!!!
Petroleum, natural gas and coal. The Gaia-worshipers particularly detest coal. I particularly detest the Gaia-worshipers.
Leftists are city slickers. They live in unnaturally high population density. One side effect is they all come to loath fellow mankind. They desire political instability and mass killings, but just can't come out and say that.
Who was the contributor again? Maybe it said so, somewhere, but I must have missed it.
(In the future, could you edit that stuff out, please? It’s a bit distracting.)
The hypothesis of global warming is based on the property of carbon dioxide gas having an exceptionally broad absorbance/emission band within the infrared part of the spectrum. In contrast, most chemicals have fairly narrow bands where they absorb and emit light. The absorbance of a photon of light causes a slight increase in energy of the absorbing molecule. The photon is emitted at a slightly lower energy, and the energy difference is converted to kinetic energy of the absorbing molecule. Regardless of the absorbance/emission properties of CO2, the energy of the entire system remains unchanged.
The the laws of thermodynamics are herby superseded by superior (to all of you minions) liberal minds. You are hereby ordered to believe in it or be audited by the IRS, EPA, OSHA....
My nomination for the epithet on the Obama addition to Mount Rushmore.
We shall soon see, maybe as early as this year, global temperature models predicting Catastrophic Global Cooling, caused by........CO2 from burning fossil fuels.
Global temperatures impacted by the sun. Who would have thought? ;-)
This is one of the best climat articles I have ever seen. It pulls together the history of climate in a way that is very understandable.
Exec Summary: Get out your parkas.
There is an exchange in Larry Niven’s “Lucifer’s Hammer”.
The world is cooling, we’re heading into another ice age.
Yeah, and we’re running out of oil that was keeping it at bay.
No question. But I keep asking myself why? They clearly know better but they, along with the so-called "science press" including "Discover" magazine, "Scientific American" and many others are 100% on the climate alarmist bandwagon. "National Geographic," which used to be among the nation's most respected organizations, started prostituting itself over the issue years ago. It no longer has scientific credibility.
What are they getting out of it? Or are they simply staffed by "the end justifies the means" radicals who keep little icons of Al Gore in "holy" shrines?
U tell m.
That would be any fuel used by Old White Guys.
“unnaturally high population density” = “hive”

You might recall the oil and gas company BP (British Petroleum) the same company that destroyed the coastal waters down South, Gulf of Mexico had once upon a time a dinosaur as their logo.
Scientists believe the billions of gallons of petroleum beneath the Earth essential to our mechanized world, was created the same way as coal, as, except in the case of petroleum, the fossilization process occurring on the unimaginably numerous prehistoric creatures, mostly dinosaurs was transformed into petroleum, aka fossilized dinosaur remnants.
Some scientists aren't sold on the fossil fuel theory, claiming none of it is true. They say these fuels are not at all biological in nature, that they came to be in the process which created the Universe, the Earth.
