DEARBORN-Police in Dearborn are trying to understand why a pressure cooker was left in the restroom of the Adoba Hotel, forcing the evacuation of guests until the early morning hours.
The evacuation also canceled Sunday nights banquet of the University of Muslim Association of America.
Asgar Zaidi of Washington D.C. has been attending the organizations conference for the past 11 years. He says its the first time its ever been held in Dearborn.
We all look forward to this time of year, Memorial Day weekend we have fun, we learn and its just disheartening to see this type of stuff happen here, said Zaidi.
The pressure cooker discovered at the hotel was detonated by police as a precaution, but contained no explosives.
Dearborn officers have determined that the pressure cooker had not been converted into any type of explosive device.

It sure worked this time.
I bet some ingenious lowly hotel employee thought this one up.
My wife used to can beef & onions in pint jars, plus kidney beans in quart jars. I’d head into the bush in Uganda with several jars of each, plus a small pressure cooker.
I’d open one jar of each, heat and have dinner. Leftovers in the pressure cooker were closed up and brought up to pressure, then set aside with the weight still in place. Voila! Sterilized and ‘re-canned’!
I could keep food safe as long as necessary to finish the batch. Wash the empty pressure cooker, then start a new batch.
Pressure cooker = great tool!
That desk is not far from the chair I am sitting in, so the pressure cooker is not far from me on the floor under that desk. My concern is, will the pressure cooker get ticked off and blow up on its own? I have paid no attention to it so it is probably lonely. I think these things are alive. I think I need my psychotic medication now. :o)
I can’t see any reason in the world this wouldn’t work...and work well.
It is a great tool!
Dang, Marcella! I’m so glad I came back to this thread and read your post.
At least you remember. Although I still use a pressure cooker, I was afraid I slipping into “retro” way to far!
Mrs. 2ndDivisionVet loves her Technique pressure cooker. Uses it a lot.
Well..if it starts “spiffeling” grab your purse and get out of the house.
I hear Motel 6 leaves the lights on.
(Sorry you had to move yourself. What a huge job!)
Could well be.
Or maybe someone(s) trying to give the Muslims a taste of terror, the non-Muslim way.
Maybe. I'm kinda' thinking your theory has a lot of merit.
Would hate to work at Williams Sonoma or any kitchen ware store.
Stores might stop carrying them and leave it for folks to buy online.
I remember tasty meals when my mother used the pressure cooker. Now, I immediatly think of Boston.
My mother always seemed to have Irish Stew going and it was so good!
Of course, people (mostly Irish!) say that their mother made the best Irish Stew but really my mother's was the best!

Evidently, they have fancy pressure cookers now as the pictures of them on this thread aren’t like mine. Mine has handles and these new ones don’t. Maybe I should check out the new ones to see if they are much better than one with handles. Maybe you can select time and other things on the new ones. Gee, if I got a new one, Homeland Security might come to my door. Well, they would have to leave unless they have a search warrant due to my front door mat that reads, “COME BACK WITH A WARRANT”.
I hate to be crass but buddy I wipe my *ss with your disheartening feelings.
Radical Muslims, and other Muslims, have made their beds....lay in them.
Remember Boston....
Just to spite us, I guess.
"Blowed up real good".
On Memorial Day. That's the Muslim way.
Pick dates that have significance to themselves or to the ones they choose to bomb.
This is what terrorists do. They don't even have to do anything-all they need to do is to create the fear.
*chuckle*
If you have a concealed carry license, fear not.
Actually fear. Once you are licensed, they will know where to go to confiscate all of the pressure cookers....
LOL!
