As far as the pollsters are concerned, the 2016 race is underway. And Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul is certainly acting like he's in the race.
The latest poll out of Iowa has former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton beating Florida Sen. Marco Rubio handily (48 vs. 37 percent), but could face a tougher race against Senator Paul (46 vs. 42 percent), according to a new poll by Quinnipiac University.
The poll says that Iowa voters would give the race to either Senator Rubio or Senator Paul, if the Democratic Party candidate was Vice President Joe Biden.
"In general Sen. Paul appears to be the better GOP candidate at this point in Iowa. Part of the reason may be the publicity from his recent high-profile visit to the state, but more likely is that he begins with a solid base of support - the folks who voted for his father in the 2008 and 2012 caucuses."
As The Christian Science Monitor reported, Rand Paul was in Iowa two weeks ago, and was popular among Republicans.
In a recent survey of [only] the registered Republican voters in Iowa, Paul won 39 percent of the vote with Marco Rubio next in line at just 20 percent. (Among Democrats, Hillary Clinton won 43 percent with Vice President Joe Biden winning 27 percent.) Earlier this year, Paul won a straw poll vote at the annual Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC).
At a Monitor-sponsored press gathering last month, Paul said he would not decide whether to run before 2014. Meanwhile, hes just unique enough among the GOP field and just different enough from his father to keep drawing attention.

Surprised he was corrupted so soon.
Rand Paul is running against Hillary? Well, I always said that the Democrats need primary challengers and that Ron Paul should’ve been more vocal about the problems with Mr. Obama’s record rather than strictly some of the GOP contenders (oddly not Mitt Romney’s record). Good to see his son setting up camp in the other party.
This is bad news for Hillary and the Dems. Once Hillary starts to run, she will drop like a rock. The only reason she is popular is that she really doesn’t do anything and once she starts to talk, it will be over.
A Hillary run for President may be a non-issue.Her next stroke will likely kill her,if she follows the patern set by her father.
He always was. People just chose to ignore his liberalism as usual. Now they are shocked...SHOCKED to see that he wasn’t pretending.
And the fact he has ANY support shows people still ‘want to believe’.
Christie is still the dark horse, he will wait and stalk Paul/Rubio and try to steal the nomination at the last minute.
After electing the Kenyan, TWICE, I didn’t think the brain dead low information voter types could get any dumber and go any lower. Their willingness to elect Slick Willie’s wife shows me that I’m wrong. Geez. We’ve got a lot of morons living in this country.
Rubio has jumped the shark.
Rubio is toast with a fork stuck in.
Time to get the eligibility question settled NOW before more Democrat runarounds of the Constitution.
I tend to think that you're right.
Yep, after his talk on the Rush show, he seems squishy..
Why just those choices? I would have liked to see Ted Cruz included in that poll. Both Paul and Rubio support amnesty.
Silly Republican.
Yep. Rubio might as well become a permanent member of the 8 Gangsters. Because he screwed the pooch. He will never be President.
And if someone is foolish enough to pick him as a Vice President, that
ticket will lose BigTime.
Mark Levin used to be all about this guy. Haven’t listened to Levin in a while, but assume he’s not quite the fan he was.
Rubio should have kept his powder dry. It's a long way back from amnesty and primary voters will not have shot memories on that issue...
You are good at this Pd, I agree 100%.
Remember as SofS she ALWAYS disappeared whenever something went wrong and assigned lackey underlings to get on TV and explain the bad news.
But this time it has caught up with her. It took time but she is gone from State and those remaining there and in WH have to save their own behinds. Look how Dems feel it necessary to yell at the IRS on TV for show.
Christie will have to have a wrestle with Jeb Bush for the title of ‘best RINO’
I still here people pushing Christie, saying he’s “the most popular Republican eva!”... Yeah right. I think we’re through with NE liberals.
