DAMASCUS, May 24 (Xinhua) -- A total of 12 fighters from Chechnya were killed Friday in Syria's central Hama province, activists said.
The fighters were killed when two rockets landed in the al- Hamra village in the eastern countryside of Hama, the Britain- based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said. ...

For a while I thought Obama wouldn’t dare cross the Russians but he’s essentially fighting them and Iran via proxy.
I wonder if this conflict is essentially the Saudis (rebels/qaeda) vs the Russians/Iran. It’s no secret the Saudis have been funding Chechen militants fighting the Russians...
I figured Russia just supplied whoever had the money, but they seem to have a real stake in Syria. Much more than just any loyal customer.
Right on target.

Decades of Russian-Syrian arms trade makes less turnover comparing to a slow day on East Siberian vodka market.
Russian ‘navy base’ in Tartus is nothing but a couple of hangars and a dozen people personnel.
I think Russian involvement in Syria is very personal and it is mostly because Russians love to kill muslims.
They will screw Iran as well, a bit later.
A school full of hundreds of ruthlessly murdered children is all the pretext the Russians will ever need.
Go, Russians.
Just for curiosity, I calculated that Syria has lost almost 4% of their population as casualties. For perspective, the United States lost 15% of its population due to casualties in the Civil War. I suspect that Syria has a long way to go.
But one reason America’s reintegration of warring parties was comparatively smooth was that both sides were Christian. General Lee, on being told they could keep the war going by sending the army into the hills as resistance fighters said, “No. It’s time to end it and let the healing begin.” I don’t see that attitude, healing, as even a possibility in Islamic culture.
A Kosovar is a citizen of Kosovo, a region of Serbia which the Serbians hold dear historically.
Agreed. You won’t see the media call it for what it is. The invasion is sponsored by the Saudis and us via the CIA, etc. After Libya and the consequent destabilization of both Libya and Mali, there’s either an agenda or ignorance so over the top, there needs to be a wholesale removal of those involved.
“And it seems like Russians are using Syria and Boston as a pretext to genocide Chechens in Dagestan again:”
At least ONE COUNTRY is taking the fight to the source.

It makes all the sense in the world once you realize that the U.S. government is probably a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Saudi royal family.
Remember: Though Obama did bow to Putin, he bowed more deeply to the Saudi King.
Some folks believe that the Saudis own Obama in some respects.
Other than his Administration’s maniacal push for abortion and sodomite rights worldwide, and its criminal silence when the Iranians almost overthrew the Ayatollahs early in his first term, I challenge anyone to point out a SINGLE Obama-Administration foreign-policy move or decision that does NOT fall in line with Saudi wishes. (Hint: The Saudis hate and fear the Iranians.)

Think of oil and gas pipelines.(both Russian and Saudi)
Think of more direct (pipeline)access to European makets
Think of the new oil fields that Cyprus and Isreal are developing in the Mediteranian Sea.
There is more than religious factioning and balance of power going on here.
Very good insights!
So, for the “big boys,” perhaps, financing the al-Qaeda types to do their dirty work is simply a pragmatic step towards control of the flow of oil?
Very interesting.
