A day after a European PGA Tour official was forced to apologize for referring African-Americans as colored in the ongoing Tiger Woods/Sergio Garcia flap, a Bronx school teacher has now been fired for calling a student negro in one of her classes.
Petrona Smith, 65, has now filed suit, claiming at the time she was simply using the Spanish word for the color black, according to The New York Post. A seventh-grader from the bilingual school PS 211 later reported the March 2012 incident and Smith, who is black and a native of the West Indies, was dismissed. In her suit, she claims she hasnt worked since.

This is all too much.
A BLACK women who works as a teacher calls BLACK children NEGRO, which is BLACK IN SPANISH and a perfectly legitimate description of Black People, is fired for that, but a teacher who can’t teach and is drunk on the job is put on paid leave for YEARS.
A BRITHISH official calls a black golfer colored and is forced to apologize? What is the British guy supposed to call a Nigerian Black? African African? African American from Nigeria, Africa? Dark Continent inhabitant? An African who had ancestors that could run faster than the Africans who sold other Africans to the slave trade?
Please, we all could use a decoder ring or manual on proper names for Negro’s, I mean Colored, I mean Black, oops African Americans.....Perhaps the HNIC O’Bumbler could get his Butt Boy Eric Holder to write a new language that is acceptable to keep us nasty tax paying White Devils in line.
You are think tank material - but don’t try to get any license or put it on a resume - you will be targeted and audited!
These ever changing monikers for colored people are confusing. Let’s use a neutral happy word from now on to describe them, like, say, “gay”. What say you?
"Fabulous!!!"
When I was a little kid in the 60s, negro was the polite and proper term to use. That’s what Dihann Carroll was on “Julia”. Her kid Corey was negro, too.
Now, I was a little kid then, but a 65 year old teacher would have been in the prime of her life. Probably meant nothing different than calling the sport footwear sneakers or tennis shows, etc.
Black is out, Colored is out, are we back to Nigger now?
This is silly beyond measure.
Perhaps, they feel blacks don't want to be reminded they are black? Or they assume blacks hate being black? OR they say it's Potentially offensive simply because 'they can'?
I didn't see what flew over your head - so I'm not sure. Perhaps, this is where taxpayers money can be used for a gov't grant to find the answer. Hey, I just created a job for this teacher! Send all you 'don't knows' to me - I think I can get America off the unemployment lines!
A mind is a terrible thing to waste. These negroes are wasted.
Try using the word "niggardly" sometime and see what happens.
Niggardly isn't even derived from the Latin word for black. It is derived from the Scandanavian word for miserly. But it sounds too much like "nigger" so it must be racist.
Lots of folks benefit from UNCF as illustrated at the 4:21 mark.

The story I read was that she was a Spanish teacher, teaching the colors, and negro is the Spanish word for black. When she said that, students complained.
The scientific term is "honky".
It all racist. Where’s the “That’s racist!” kid been lately?
Before my daughters were all out of school the school decided to crack down on swearing. I thought that was a good thing until they included “any other word said as a substitute for a swear word” as part of the language that was not allowed. Say what?
Now, we all say stupid things. No doubt Howard, who is white, felt like a dope at that instant because he used a term that was a near homonym with the "N"-word...Before long, a retinue of hot dogs and race-baiters took to the street corners, demanding swift justice. On Jan. 27, they won. Howard apologized for his language and then resigned.
If I were in Howard's place, I would not have felt like a dope for saying "niggardly," would not have apologized, and would not have resigned. And if they had fired me, I would have responded with a lawsuit.
But isn’t “Negro” the actual name of the race?
