A day after a European PGA Tour official was forced to apologize for referring African-Americans as colored in the ongoing Tiger Woods/Sergio Garcia flap, a Bronx school teacher has now been fired for calling a student negro in one of her classes.
Petrona Smith, 65, has now filed suit, claiming at the time she was simply using the Spanish word for the color black, according to The New York Post. A seventh-grader from the bilingual school PS 211 later reported the March 2012 incident and Smith, who is black and a native of the West Indies, was dismissed. In her suit, she claims she hasnt worked since.

Heck, most teacher these days think the word "niggardly" is a racial slur. Amazing how the PC-Police have started outlawing words that can be mistaken for something else - dumbing down the citizens by limiting their vocabulary in the hopes that they will become as stupid as those who think they need to be oppressed.
I’ll have to apply for a gov’t grant where I can take skin samples of all races including mixed. I want to research to see what skin color is the thinnest. I think I have the answer, I just need to prove it. Any dermatologist on board to help with this research?
Well... they couldn't say 'negro'. I'm pretty sure she isn't 'black', as that is a cultural term, and not a genealogical one. The worst 'term' (being totally incorrect) is African-American.
It is getting impossible to even be politically correct.
I find it odd that negroes and other races of melanin heavy skin let everyone else decide what to call them. Don't they know what they are to begin with ? Are these 'labels' adopted by cultures because they think it gives them an advantage ?
It seems that the real purpose of all this is to keep us blaming each other for all our woes.
imagine if she had quoted some rap songs.
I don’t know who to believe in this. She is accused of calling kids other names and making them sit in the back of the class. She claims the kids called her a n***er. So who wins this legal battle? Who knows in the Bizzaro World of Political Correctness????
We had a customer go ballistic the other day because the bilingual packaging on a black grill cover also listed it as negro. It took me almost five minutes to calm him down and explain that it was simply the Spanish word for black.
So, she abbreviated.
They say America is a melting pot; yet, some ‘colors’ pop up and say, ‘no, I’m more important - don’t melt me’!!
What does the National Association for the Advancement of People of Color (NAAPOC) have to say about this?
Time for a big payout from the school.
Unless they have a written rule or published guidelines prohibiting the use of the word ‘negro’ it seems they are wide open to a charge of unlawful termination.
is it still ok to call whites “Caucasian”?
Idiots or liberals, same thing.
Maybe a sign in the store warning ‘We don’t cater to thinness in any sense’ as we have no ‘Offended Dept.’ might help.
addendum to above: i got to thinking. Caucasian is out, whites are called the Racist race.
I’ve never heard a white person say the word negro. I’ve heard many many black people say it. Same with the N word.
Double standards are fun.
Negro - short for Negroid.
Negroid (also known as Congoid[1]) is a term that is used by some forensic and physical anthropologists to refer to individuals and populations that share certain morphological and skeletal traits that are generally associated with Black African ancestry.[2][3] The term is commonly associated with notions of racial typology which are disputed by a majority of anthropologists.[4] For modern usage it is generally associated with racial notions, and is discouraged, as it is potentially offensive.[5]
“Potentially offensive”...and just why is that again? Sorry, but that one flew over my head.
If you want to watch a movie that deals with the topic of racism, watch Samuel L. Jackson and Tommy Lee Jones in THE SUNSET LIMITED.

Whoa stop! You offended me! I am extremely offended! I prefer the term “Caucasoid”.
