It seems like only yesterday that IRS Director of Exempt Organizations Lois Lerner was claiming she knew nothing about the dastardly work of those shadowy "low-level employees in the Cincinnati office" - who somehow remain shadowy to this day, despite having been blamed for the worst abuse-of-power scandal in living memory. The Incompetence Defense beloved of this administration, and so effective with a media that would never accept it from a Republican official, was deployed with gusto. Lerner was shocked, shocked, to discover gambling against Tea Party groups going on at Rick's Tax Exempt Organizations Cafe American.
But now National Review has uncovered documentation proving Lerner was up to her neck in the operation, over nine months after she claims she learned about it:

I agree this is the strategy I’d like to see employed against all these leftists that routinley violate our rights. When you make them and not the tax payer responsible for paying for their actions a lot of this crap will stop.

Why have we allowed federal employees to dictate rules of their employment to the tax payers? Why can’t we fire them even if the president or their supervisors cannot?

Yes! I like the way you think. I’m going to write my Congresspersons and demand that they de-fund the IRS. If nothing else, if Congress did this, it would get press attention followed by public attention! Great idea.
If Congress can fire employees in the fed gov’t, then why don’t they do it?? I’m going to inform my Congress persons that THEY can fire fed employees. Then they want have to complain any more.

This woman is a smug person (because of her actions) but there are people whose natural looks portray what people call “smug” even if they are far from it and folks will make unfair judgements about them. I’ve been judged most of my life for being “haughty” or stuck up when in fact I’m a pretty humble person who struggles with social anxiety at times, since I was a kid. My natural countenance when I’m not forcing at least a smirk, is just not pleasant! People are always telling me to “smile” I know it’s cause when I don’t I look kind of mad:) It’s very frustrating.
