The only possible good that may come of this is that the homosexual boys will be deprogrammed of their deviancy by good Christian Conservative scout leaders. Admittedly, that's a real stretch but it could be an opportunity for a number of the local organizations to educate those boys on the dangers and sinfulness of sodomy. Since homosexuality is not a genetic trait but is learned, it can also be unlearned. Perhaps being exposed to normal boys will help those in sin.

I think what’s going to happen is that people will start asking questions about how and when did a boy under the age of concent figure out he was gay.

I think parents of ‘gay’ boys will still probably avoid scouting, unless, of course, they are the adopted sons of two gay parents.

When that activism starts to root, I think you’ll see a backlash.

I also think the current board is going to end up getting fired.

This is the first shot in the war, not the last.

Once this hits their pocketbook, I think they’ll take another look.

Any scout leader brave enough to even try that will find himself the target of multiple lawsuits from the ACLU.

While I applaud your optimism and desire to do good - and save souls. I must be frank and tell you this WILL NOT HAPPEN. Any leader that attempts this will be sued into poverty. No, it is better for the various Evangelical Christian Denominations to form strong “scout-like” groups. Some may even want to cooperate in doing this...if they can agree on what the left and right bounds should be.

The same evil people who made sure they had this vote in the bag before they even brought it up for a vote -- do you think they would ever try it "in the dark"? -- will make sure the best people, the ones with straight backbones, are "weeded out" to "help the Scouts grow" in this "time of controversy" -- a "purge of the haters" if you will.

They've got it all laid out already -- including the vile names they'll call the people who founded and shepherded the BSA through what, 100 years? of morally and intellectually straight scouting.
