I believe you are talking about a bill going to conference.

Good catch!

The House has indicated that will not be doing comprehensive immigration reform in one big bill.

So what do you think they will do? 4 smaller bills can be just as bad as one big one, and the Senate traitors could make bills to match each one, with the idea of making the end result more like their big bill.

It depends obviously on what are in the bills. They could pass a tough enforcement bill that includes securing the border, a system to track and deport visa overstays, and a mandatory e-verify system with tough penalties on employers who knowingly hire illegals.

They could pass a separate bill on guest workers, i.e., more slots for skilled labor. This would be a sop to the Chamber. I am dead set against it, but it would smoke out the Dems.

And if they want to be too clever by half, they could support a bill that legalizes the status of the illegals once all of the enforcement measures are in place for a number of years and shown to be operating and working effectively. This would be effective PR for the Reps. The public wants tougher enforcement so it would be difficult to attack by the Dems in the midterms. It could be called a "trust but verify" strategy recalling Reagan and his dealings with the Soviets.

We are getting tag teamed bad now. A communist and corporate war on the middle class. They both want slaves. Not with my vote.

Yes, too many of these guys become lobbyists or consultants for the big payoffs.

I read Paul Ryan’s wife is a lobbyist. A lot of them work both sides of the aisle that way.

The phrase that comes to mind is "playing with fire." Every "comprehensive immigration" bill has something like that, and you see how well that has worked so far. Imagine the most extreme pro-amnesty interpretation about the "enforcement working effectively" that the 9th circuit, for example, could conjure up. Then Roberts or Kennedy could chicken out, or President Hillary (voters don't seem to hold Dems accountable now) could replace the older guys on the Scotus.

All limitations on this new class of ‘legals’ would be stricken down by the SCOTUS. “There’s no such thing as a second class citizen, and no limitations would stand this test.”

It is a lot easier to hassle a rep than a senator. Who would even support this bill, other than a senator or a far left dem?
