Woolwich attack: troops advised not to wear uniform outside bases

Commanders have advised troops not to wear uniform travelling to and from work or outside bases following the brutal killing of a member of the military close to Woolwich barracks.

Defence sources said the order had been given that uniform should not be worn by those travelling alone, or on public transport as a "common sense precaution" immediately after the killing.

Some men did, but the two started to attack them and would only allow women through, so the men backed off.

Armed police took 20 mins (which is unusually slow). Normal police were there in 9. BUT as the two were armed, armed units took charge, albeit they were still on their way.

Had the two had no gun, they’d have been taken on by the normal police (tasers, CS spray, batons).

Armed UK police units are always armed and patrolling in cars. They didnt have to sign out anything.

My first reaction to this article was... why don’t they just arm them? England has gone down the drain.

Common sense is obviously not so common anymore.

When will people stand up?!!

They didnt have to sign out anything.

If thats the case, it makes the whole affair even more outrageous.

Thank the Lord for RKBA!

A government that cowardly has failed to protect its citizens, and yes, although significant portions of the British press don’t believe it, soldiers are citizens too. That government should be tossed from office in ignominy.

“Used to” are the key words. Just like most bases used to have in-patient hospitals, you could have a stiff drink at lunch, and you did not have to worry about some guy staring at your junk and licking his lips while you showered after working out. A lot has been outsourced/changed for the worse.

Also, who they hell would want to change before/after lunch if going off base. What a pain in the ass that would be.

"Definitely better now. "

Our readiness is pathetic, moral down the drain, sexual assaults are at an all time high, CiC hates individual liberty, retirees are constantly getting worked over, confused health care options (Try working at AFMOA for a day and you might become aware), and that is just a small sample, lol.

Will this order include Prince Harry?
I myself prefer the Israelis Standing Orders on weapons and uniforms, especially the female portion.

What an insult!!!

They can't even wear their nation's military service uniform in their own country.

Sorry about that ;-)

Still, if I was AD I would not feel comfortable wearing the uniform due to potential “crazies” (Not just Jihadist). DUmmies under the “wrong” President can't be trusted for example.
