Not that the Humvee wasn't capable. Just always seems to have been over sized and expensive for the task at hand.
In any case....I want one. Civilian models???
You can get one from the army base, if you take one home, one piece at a time.
It looks like a 4-wheeled “mule” ...
If that was spoken by a pampered automobile critic from Detroit, that'd be one thing, but if it was an iron-butt Tech Sergeant who spends his off hours roller-blading through the Hindu Kush with a full battle pack, quite another. I still want one.
Nappy must be lickin’ her lips.

Yup! It’s called a Jeep.
Hopefully those transverse hoop structures can be raised up after unloading the vehicle. Gotta have a roll cage on something like this for sure.
I would just as soon have my 41 MB.
Four wheel steering? WhY?
How much are they each?
My SIL works for Rolls Royce who makes the V-22 engines.
Last summer they had several on display at an open house event and then did the flyover for the Nascar race.
That airplane is a friggin’ mechanical nightmare.
God protect anybody who flies on one.
Exactly. The Hummer is nice out in the wide open desert but around here would need a D8 to trailblaze.
Anything is fine.......until the artillery starts to fall.
It would be less than 1/10th the price. No way the Pentagon would buy 'em again!
Are those things armored?
I saw an old video of German movies when they were moving into Russia. there were Russian shells hitting about once ever 5 to 10 seconds apparently aimed at the bridges, and Engineers.
He said they were completely safe from the Russian artillery in their tanks but the engineers (he called them sappers) had nothing but their helmets to protect them and they were there working on the bridge right in the middle of it.
I can only guess the shells were not very powerful as the tanks didn’t look too heavy.
