A man being questioned in connection with the Boston Marathon bombings who was killed in Florida early Wednesday by the FBI was reportedly going to admit his role in the 2011 Waltham triple homicide, according to news partner WCVB.
Khusen Taramov said he and Ibragim Todashev were being questioned as part of the bombings by the FBI official and law enforcement officers in Orlando.
Taramov said Todashev, 27, knew bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev because both were MMA fighters, WCVB reports. Taramov said they were interviewed nearly three hours, and at some point, "something went wrong," and Todashev was killed. Sources said Todashev was about to admit his role in a triple homicide that happened in Waltham on Sept. 11, 2011, when he "went crazy."
"There was some sort of aggressive movement that led the FBI agent to believe he was under threat and he opened fire," the law enforcement official told ABC News. It was not clear what role Todashev may have played, but he was "about to sign a statement" admitting to a role with Tsarnaev in the unsolved murders.
The Waltham Police Department, the Middlesex District Attorneys Office and the Boston division of the FBI did not comment on the case. The State Police referred calls to the FBI.
The Middlesex District Attorneys Office is looking into the possible tie between now-dead bombing suspect Tsarnaev and the Sept. 11, 2011, murders of three men inside a home on Harding Avenue.
Tsarnaev had been training with one of the 2011 murder victims in an attempt to transition from boxing into a possible career in the sport of mixed martial arts, according to news partner WCVB. One of the murder victims identified by police, Brendan Mess, 25, of Waltham, was a well-known mixed martial arts fighter.
The three men killed had their throats stabbed and their bodies covered with marijuana, according to police. The grisly murder scene had produced no leads made public to date. Cambridge residents Eric Weissman, 31, and Rapheal Teken, 37, were also killed. Teken graduated from Brookline High School and Brandeis University.
The murders are under investigation by the Waltham Police Department and the State Police Middlesex County CPAC Unit.
The FBI confirmed today that a person was shot and killed in Florida, but would not disclose details about the investigation.
"The agent, along with two Massachusetts State Police troopers and other law enforcement personnel, were interviewing an individual in connection with the Boston Marathon bombing investigation when a violent confrontation was initiated by the individual," the FBI said in a statement.

Read the FBI agent was from the Boston field office and it was two Massachusetts state troopers with him in the Orlando interview.
What I’m questioning is that there were 3 cops and one perp....and their only choice was a kill shot??
“Can one think why the guy wasn’t frisked??”
I don’t think he was under arrest. They were interviewing him at his house, and we’ve all got knives handy in our homes anyway, so what would the point be?
“And the cops aren’t trained to defend themselves against a knife other than by using a gun?”
Maybe as a last resort. I wouldn’t try to defend myself against a deadly weapon with a taser, pepper spray, or my bare hands, if I had a gun on my hip, that’s for sure.
Don't blame you for questioning here. Just my view.
This guy overpowered every martial arts opponent easily in the videos on youtube. One of them was announced as a championship fight. He was a nightmare without a knife.
Yea... who knows... maybe it was a good kill.
Other sources say that the FBI agent murdered Todashev in cold blood to cover up the bureau's connection to Boston...
Albuquerque. See, I can do it too. Snorkel.
I'll just remind you here that this is the same Police State that needed 9,000 4th Amendment-violating stormtroopers to not find a shot & bleeding teenager.
As far as I'm concerned, anything that comes out of their pieholes is a lie until I see the videotape.
