WASHINGTON A top IRS official in the division that reviews nonprofit groups will invoke the Fifth Amendment and refuse to answer questions before a House committee investigating the agencys improper screening of conservative nonprofit groups.
Lois Lerner, the head of the exempt organizations division of the IRS, wont answer questions about what she knew about the improper screening or why she didnt reveal it to Congress, according to a letter from her defense lawyer, William W. Taylor 3rd.

She has not committed any crime or made any misrepresentation but under the circumstances she has no choice but to take this course, said a letter by Taylor to committee Chairman Darrell E. Issa, R-Calif. The letter, sent Monday, was obtained Tuesday by the Los Angeles Times.
Absolutely. Put her before the unblinking eye of history, and make her plead the 5th over and over again. Drag her and her ilk into the full light of day. The American people need to see this.
I think the rest of the world does it exactly opposite of the way we do, but once you've pled the 5th you have other troubles ~ like keeping your job.
The best method is to start at the bottom ~ that’s where the folks are most likely still in awe of the power and majesty of government. You start at the top with an old, jaded, filthy imperialistic colonial slave master and you’ll get arrogance ~ besides, that’ll just give the folks at the top to THREATEN and INTIMIDATE the folks at the bottom.
I agree with you 100%, however I believe you mean “The Duchy of Grand Fenwick.”
Great reference, by the way!
WHOA!
That’s quite the chart!
“They are looking for a scape goat. Some poor slob is sitting in jail over a Youtube video to protect the president and Clinton.”
A reality show. The scapegoats’ prison. It’s some ankle bracelet country club somewhere in Kenya or Camp David (BO never uses it).
They’re seen bickering over who cooks and they can have sports contests and get makeovers done.
Enough is enough.
Now that at least one official is pleading the Fifth, it's going to be difficult for Boehner to sweep this under the rug like Fast n' Furious. Really difficult. Though I'm sure he'll try....
“This is significant because the optics are simply awful for the administration. It makes lthem appear as guilty as in fact they are!”
Exactly.
Toss in that Miller and Shulman come off as uncooperative, arrogant, obfuscating, incompetent liars.
Pray this torpedoes Obamacare.
I hope somebody remembers to tell the witnesses that by fully testifying in the open about the misdeeds of others they will win their cases at the MSPB. That will pay their legal fees, so lawyer up!
Oh he WILL try.
And yet it does not. Instead it provokes a visceral reaction in many to defend the man who refuses to assist in the prosecution of the people destroying the country.
This is why I just embrace Reaganism now. Conservatism means something I don’t understand anymore.
Liberal response I have heard MANY TIMES already:
“But, but... A BUSH APPOINTEE WAS IN CHARGE!”
To them, that means it’s... BUSH’S FAULT, not Obama’s.
This better not be a “courtesy 5th” where she doesn’t even have to show up. Subpoena her, make her appear, make her say the words out loud on live TV - “On advice of counsel I respectfully decline to answer on the grounds that it may tend to incriminate me”. MAKE HER SAY IT!
” Pray this torpedoes Obamacare.”
It should help.
It’s good that at least one person in the IRS knows about how the constitution works. Not so good for her career path though.
” This is why I just embrace Reaganism now. Conservatism means something I dont understand anymore.”
Conservatism is the same as it was 30 years ago, under Reagan. The difference now is that LIARS claim to be conservatives.
