Is the tea party getting its groove back? Shouts of vindication from around the country suggest the movement's leaders certainly think so.
They say the IRS acknowledgement that it had targeted their groups for extra scrutinya claim that tea party activists had made for yearsis helping pump new energy into the coalition. And they are trying to use that development, along with the ongoing controversy over the Benghazi, Libya, terrorist attacks and the Justice Departments secret seizure of journalists phone records, to recruit new activists incensed about government overreach.
The tax-agency scandalit has led to the acting IRS commissioners ouster, a criminal investigation and Capitol Hill hearingsseems to validate the tea partys long-held belief among supporters that government was trampling on them specifically, a claim dismissed by ousted commissioner Steven T. Miller. He has called the targeting a mistake and not an act of partisanship.
Nevertheless, Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., elected in 2010 with tea party backing, said the IRS scandal confirms many of the feelings that led to the tea party movement in the first place.

“Tea party looks to take advantage of moment”
Never let a good crisis go to waste. Isn’t that what we were told?
That’s because only the Tea Party actually want to defeat the democrats and their agenda, instead of going along with the liberal consensus, as the republican party does, a dimestore new deal, as Goldwater called it. A choice, not an echo, as Schlafley called it.
While drunk I struck 7 pedestrians at a Farmers’ Market, and now they’re SUING me.
Know why?
Cuz they’re TAKING ADVANTAGE of me.
Isn’t that SMALL of them...? OH, MAN..!
But the libs prefer for us to do as they say, not as they do.
I had sort of thought the TP’s had lost their bloom, but it looks like many of us are ready to do it again!
Oh barf. The whole stinking government is cooperating in the squashing of legitimate political dissent. The IRS is merely the biggest to openly ally itself with the Democrats in the punishing of Tea Party members.
Always were. Some just got sidetracked thinking the GOP was on our side. With that fantasy permanently out of the way for anyone concerned with reality, we can get to real work.
Exactly. The whole AP article is a big “watch out, the Tea Party’s back” pile of manure.
Yeah, and by many of the very candidates they supported.
Tea Party “getting it’s grove back”? We never went away, we just got busy, just not as noisy.
Perhaps this is an article written to appease the Obama regime?
You nailed it
bump!
Well, if the “tea party” is poised for a resurgence, I sincerely hope everyone will be wary and remember the cold shoulder given it by the GOP, following the mid-terms, culminating in the all-out snubbing at the 2012 convention. That still burns me up.
First I’ve heard of the Tea Party groups protesting at the IRS.
Any Houston Tea Party protest y’all aware of?
I just heard of it myself.
Protest Sign idea:
Is Obamas IRS rapidly becoming a SELECTIVE Domestic Terrorist Organization against the Middle Class?
Looks good.
