A new, casually transmittable infection — a unique strain of bacterial meningitis — has cast a pall over the gay night life and dating scene, with men wondering whether this is AIDS, circa 1981, all over again. Seven men have died in New York City, about a third of diagnosed cases, since 2010. And in the last few months, the contagion seemed to be accelerating. It has targeted gay and bisexual men, and nobody knows exactly why.
The city’s best hope to curb the outbreak is to vaccinate as many at-risk men as possible, focusing on those most in danger: men who regularly hook up with other men whom they meet at parties, bars, clubs and through apps like Grindr. Dr. Don Weiss, the director of surveillance for the city’s Bureau of Communicable Disease, has called it “Russian roulette sex,” because “sooner or later, you are going to come across this organism and be exposed.”
The health department’s own vaccination efforts at several gay bars have had limited success. Men out partying want to have fun, not be told that they may fall prey to a lethal disease by doing so.

Perhaps it should dawn on some of these guys that sticking an open tunnel to your body into the evacuation place of another is not a good idea. Those systems are designed to move one way, not two ways.

Yep. Exposure to body fluids, especially saliva. According to the CDC article you can also get Listeria monocytogenes by eating contaminated food. Lovely.
Way back in my undergraduate Microbiology program we had a mandatory class taught by a statistician on the mathematics of epidemics. Being horny little buggers we were very attentive when the topic came around to STDs. Simply put, promiscuity kills, and however bad you think the chances are, they're worse.
This is not about innocent victims of disease. This is aout mental illness. Being gay is really about being sexually compulsive. Instead of trying to justify their life style, gays need to take a look at why they cannot grow up an exercise some restraint.
Public school personnel has to stop lying to children about sodomy being just like herterosexual sex. It’s not healthy.

The real disease is sexual addiction. Anyone who continues a behavior despite it being potentially harmful to themselves or others, is considered an addict. Sexual addiction is very harmful and hurtful to individuals, and those close to them. I don’t judge others, but as an experienced adult I have no doubt that EVERYTHING in the bible is true in a very practical sense. The eventual result of sexual addictions is endlessly looking for the next sexual fix, never being satisfied, sexual dysfunction, and disease, being your entire purpose in life. In other words, hell. Your loving Father never wanted that for you. Stay away from porno guys. IT DESTROYS MARRIAGES, and families.
You can't declare war on nature and natures God and expect to win. The homos will ALWAYS lose.
Comprehensive Sex Education is on its way if it isn’t already implemented in your school system.

Why the hell are we spending tax dollars and putting effort into trying to vaccinate against this? It is not the government’s (nor my tax dollars) job to protect you from your own dumb ass decisions.

The homosexual lifestyle is tailor-made for propagating disease. Anal sex is very effective in transmitting diseases that are poorly transmitted by any other means. Rampant promiscuity means that an infected person will have sexual contact with dozens, perhaps hundreds, of others within the year, passing diseases through the homosexual population at an exponential rate.
Oh, but they need the government(meaning other citizens’ tax dollars) to rescue them from the consequences of their actions like “Kolanda”, the crazy Obama lady:

Bacterial meningitis doesn't just target gay men. It can and **will** infect co-workers, family members, and others that these gays may meet in the community.

Unfortunately, the communicable diseases they carry like TB and meningitis will take down a lot of innocents with them.
Unfortunately, HIV infected homosexuals ( BECAUSE OF THEIR HIGHLY PROMISCUOUS SEXUAL LIFESTYLE) are far more likely than other immune deficient individuals, to be WALKING PETRI DISHES OF COMMUNICABLE DISEASES!

Many of those communicable diseases are passed on to those in the health heterosexual community. Meningitis is just one of **many**.
