Embattled IRS official Lois Lerner’s husband’s law firm has strong Obama connections
Daily Caller ^ | 5/19/13

Posted on 05/19/2013 9:28:07 AM PDT by Impala64ssa

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) official who apologized for targeting conservative nonprofit groups for extra scrutiny is married to an attorney whose firm hosted a voter registration organizing event for the Obama presidential campaign, praised President Obama’s policy work, and had one of its partners appointed by Obama to a key ambassadorship.

IRS Exempt Organizations Division director Lois G. Lerner, who has been described as “apolitical” in mainstream press coverage of the IRS scandal, is married to tax attorney Michael R. Miles, a partner at the law firm Sutherland Asbill & Brennan. The firm is based in Atlanta but has a number of offices including in Washington, D.C., where Miles works.

The 400-attorney firm hosted an organizing meeting at its Atlanta office for people interested in helping with voter registration for the Obama re-election campaign.

The incompetence, appearances of impropriety, and corruption from this administration is more transparent and predictable than a badly written wrestlemania script. And if anybody believes Lois Lerner is apolitical, I got a mountain ski resort in Florida I'd like to sell them.

In the eyes of the administration all of this is “irrelevant”.

SAB used to be a reputable, old-line Atlanta law firm.

They've always trended Democrat . . . but I would have thought they would have had more sense than to get involved with this criminal enterprise.

Somebody on the Managing Committee has got to be feeling pretty sick right now . . .

Democrats were absolutely hoodwinked and used. I’m sure some are very upset that they fell for the “historic” bull shoot.

Obama is merely the frontman for an anti-American, anti-Christian Marxist cartel.

lois best get used to living off her hubby's income ~ no more kickbacks, bribes, or special relationships anymore ~ to say nothing of the salary for her job which she probably views as a mere pittance.

Tax collectors who'll cheat on the small stuff will cheat on the big stuff. These people ~ the whole class of top management ~ at IRS are intolerable and must be driven out into the streets nekkid.

I wonder if she’s related to Stephen Lerner, former SEIU organizer?

Lawyers feeling remorse or shame? I don’t think so.

Earlier this week The Daily Caller reported that Lerner personally signed the tax-exemption approval for a shady charity run by Obama’s half-brother, after an inexplicably brief one-month application process. (Related: Lois Lerner approved exemption for Obama brother’s ‘charity’)

Yes, it's all true.

Actually, the decent ones do.

You never hear about them because they're not in the news, they just are down at the courthouse doing their job for ordinary folks, not the celebrities who dominate the media.

They prize their reputations highly - not with the media (who by and large don't know where the courthouse is and wouldn't know where to go when they got there) but other reputable lawyers, honest judges, and ethical legislators.

They exist, I know a lot of them. But most folks don't.

Gee...whatta surprise. She’s a political operative, embedded in the IRS where she can throw a wrench into the opposition’s money flow.

Who knew.

I acknowledge your point of view. Likely there are some honest lawyers.

However, over the past four years - since I started my local newsblog - I have spent more time in court than the rest of my 63 years put together. I’ve covered lawsuits, criminal trials, local school board, local city hall, local county commission, etc.

I’ve gotten to know a big chunk of the North Louisiana “legal community” very well, from district attorneys, to judges, to plaintiff attorneys.

It ain’t a pretty sight, I can assure you from firsthand knowledge.

Remember there were some investment companies that were to chummy with the stock market and are no longer in business. Some think they will be exempt but there was even a accounting service Anderson that years ago went belly up.
