There's one great thing about J.C. Penney's last quarter: It's over.

The struggling retailer lost a whopping $289 million for the three months ended on May 4, with sales plunging 16.4% versus a year prior.

When J.C.Penny went PC and catered to the butt pirates, they lost the loyal base that kept them afloat. Maybe if they would align themselves with the NRA and Catholics and Baptists they may have a chance. They probably are like our US government and have so many lefties within their ranks they only know how to sink a ship, not keep it afloat.

Many a business has been destroyed by a “smart” young management team “updating” the image.

These people don’t believe in “if it works, don’t break it”.

I expect JCP tobe gone before obama .

One of the lessons to be learned here is how quickly poor management can ruin an organization.

Also, poor products. Went to buy my son a dress shirt and the ones Penney’s had were really cheap looking. Went to Macy’s and bought it.

***One word : WALMART.***

I have an old photo of a town on the high plains we used to live in. There is a small JC Penny store there.

I have been through that town many times and there is no Pennys store there anymore. It closed up way before Sam Walton ever bought the bankrupt Ben Franklin stores.

Today that town is almost a ghost town and the nearest Walmart is 100 miles away.

As for the Craftsman tools, they used to be made not far from here. Now in China.
K-Mart and ACE hardware now carry CRAFTSMAN tools.

A problem is Sears bought up lots of cheap goods and tried to pass them off on the public.

Their self propelled lawnmower was a joke and broke the first day.
Battery jumper cables had the clamps made of plastic and the one on display at the store had a shattered clamp on it.

The welding machine had a plastic adjusting knob and it was shattered, in the store.

Their binoculars were junk.

Sears began the journey downward back in the 1970s.

***Why, oh why, do we need JC Penny’s? ***

Going the way of WARDS, and WOOLWORTHS. and being followed by Penny’s and Sears.

Having Soros buying stock in your company reminds me of the old E.C. horror comic of a criminal lost in the desert, who awakens to find himself more than half eaten, a vulture standing on his chest.

The rather gruesome final panel. A bit NSFW.

You can stick a fork in JCP. They’re done. They hired an iPad salesman to run the company, and he tried to sell clothes like they were iPads.

Johnson’s worse sin was to nuke JCP sales and coupons. We could depend on all those discounts and coupons to add up and know we were getting good value.

Then Johnson nuked the brands we knew were good and durable. We knew we were getting good stuff. So now JCP no longer carried the things we wanted to buy.

Then Johnson turned the stores into a thicket of boutiquelets. Now we couldn’t FIND the stuff we wanted to buy (assuming it was there to begin with).

Then Johnson eschewed JCP’s demographic, and for some bizarre reason he decided it would be a capitol idea to offend many of us by catering to a teeny, tiny demographic, namely homosexuals.

Every one of those moves served to drive JCP’s multi-generational base of shoppers out of JCP stores forever. And that’s why JCP is done.

The damage is done and firing Johnson won’t bring back the old JCP. Nothing will. And even if they tried to bring back the old JCP exactly like it was, nobody would believe it.

And besides, everyone has already transferred their loyalty to other retail outlets; loyalty in this case meaning, “I’ve spent a lot of time and effort to find the stuff I want to buy at a place I like to shop at; I finally found that place and it has what I want, and it has it at a fair price, and every time I go back, they STILL have the stuff I want at a fair price, so I’m done wasting time shopping around: I’ll just keep coming back there.” And that’s what JCP has lost and that’s what JCP will never get back. Ever.

I agree with the Freeper who said JCP would be gone before Obama. However, I don’t understand what Soros is up to. It has to be some kind of pump and dump scheme, because a big retail chain has value only because of three things:

1. Customer goodwill. That’s gone.

2. Real estate. JCP real estate is probably not worth squat in this economy. Almost all of it will sit empty for a very long time after Chapter 7.

3. Savvy management and loyal, capable employees. And both of those groups are long, long gone from JCP.

LOL! But you couldn't shrink Toughskins even if you tried. They're made from Kevlar.

Seems supporting faggotry is very bad for business unless you sell pink tutus or condoms...

That’s what I don’t get — what were the advertising guys THINKING? (If they were.)

Don’t take positions. It is that simple. They want to take a position? OK.

“We have the best product at the best prices.”

“Waddya think about deviants?”

“We have the best product at the best prices and EVERYone is welcome in our stores.”

Knowing Soros would profit is ample reason to stay out of their stores...as if their pro-sodomy ads were reason enough.

When Sears purchased Lands End, they wrecked what was once a really good brand...

I don't know if it was before, during or after the purchase of Lands End, but that brand nose dived in quality around that time. The men's slacks became noticeably cheaper in quality, the stitching started unraveling, and you couldn't get a hidden hem stitch at the cuffs anymore. The shirts are crap now as well.

Yep! It was insulting. JCP flat out called its lifelong customers homophobes and then released the Father's day gay ad to rub it in our face. We are NOT homophobes. We are NOT afraid of gays. We DISAPPROVE of the lifestyle and we reject the notion that 2 men or 2 women are somehow equal to a traditional family.

Let them all close. They didn't want our nasty Christian, Conservative, Tea Bagger, Family Values money anyway. Anyone heard from those Dixie Chicks in the last 5 years? Yeah, didn't think so. Only idiots try to sell liberal politics with their products.

The sad thing is that Penney biting the dust is no skin off the Gaystapo's nose; a big part of their strategy is to infect an organization to destroy it anyway. That is what they've done to several mainline religious denominations, marriage, schools and many levels of government. They are attempting it now with the Boy Scouts of America, the most conservative of Christian denominations, and Christian college orgs.

No, they couldn't care less what happens to an organization as long as they get "noticed" in the process of the destruction.
