For those of us who have long wondered why the Justice Department never investigated Wall Street, the Associated Press subpoena scandal illustrates a key point: The Justice Department sets priorities based on what it hears from the White House. ---snip--- With President Obama's gratitude, Justice Department leaders will likely one day rejoin the prestigious white collar bar and make millions of dollars a year to defend the very bankers they were supposed to hold accountable

Perhaps too late to stop the looting and start the prosecuting? I think under oath the banksters and politicians that brought the financial crisis on will simply say they ‘were just following orders’. As time goes on and they double down on the behaviors, I am not unconvinced that this fiasco was planned.

For those of us who have long wondered why the Justice Department never investigated Wall Street...

Because investigating Wall Street would've led back to Fannie and Freddie...and that would've led to...Chris Dodd, Barney Frank, Franklin Raines, Richard Johnson, the President, ACORN and...lotsa other Democrats.

TNR should know this. Either that...or they're very unobservant.

Wall Street bankers are nearly 100% democrats, that’s why! The democrats say publicly that they are all republicans, but that is the lie that no one corrects.

All of these scandal headlines should be stating that they are Obama scandals.

Instead we have scandals from the “Administration” or the “White House” or Holder or Clinton or anybody else but Obama himself.

You’re right. Fannie and Freddie were founded by Democrats, have always been operated by Democrats and have served them as a cash cow. I’m no John McCain fan but his plan was to return both Fannie and Freddi to privatization and break them up into six or more separate institutions.

They cost millions of taxpayers hundreds of billions$.
There should be no statute of limitations for elected criminal behavior (personal enrichment) under color of authority.

The “war” on wall street was part of obama’s campaign.
They linked “fat cats” with Romney.
Once the election was over, they no longer concern themselves with wall street.
Yet the funds continue to flow.
And Frank and Dodd got to retire and live out their lives like kings.

Not sure it is even necessary to investigate to obtain a conviction of Jon Corzine for the MF Global mess. Corzine confessed violating Sarbanes Oxley when he asserted complete ignorance in terms of what happened. SOX requires certifications of knowledge of financial controls by those at the top and open violators to significant jail time. Corzine would either have committed fraud ... violated SOX ... perjured himself or all three. SOX works for me as he has basically confessed and would suffice to demonstrate what a complete jackass he really is.
