Civil servants always will have the American peoples back despite dysfunctional politics, former Vice President Al Gore told federal employees on Monday.
I have never lost faith in you, the career people who keep this thing going in spite of all curveballs thrown in front of you, the latest being the sequester, well, the latest is -- whats the date today? the head of an initiative to reform government during the Clinton administration told a standing room-only crowd of federal employees at the Excellence in Government conference, sponsored by the Government Executive Media Group, in Washington.

Workers know, they understand the problems better than managers do. The people who are closest to what needs to be fixed know best how to fix it. Now, the problem is, they have learned through many years of experience that somebody who sticks his neck out might get his head chopped off, the former veep said, referring to governments traditional aversion to risk-taking and risk-takers.

Public Choice and the IRS Harassment Campaign
” This thought occurs because one of the instructions at the IRS for examining tax-exempt status was to target groups critical of big government. Or in other words, groups critical of the IRS itself, with its expanded mandate under ObamaCare, and all of the other bureaucracies that comprise that vast conglomerate called federal government. Are the bureaucracies fighting their own war against the taxpayers independently of the political class?
Thats not a particularly farfetched idea. Public choice arguments long ago made a compelling case that government employees are no different from anyone else. They work to further their own interests. Like employees in any industry, they have a financial and psychological stake in promoting the growth of their organization. Growth means more promotions, better pay and more personal power.
Moreover, public employees have means of promoting growth not available to toilers in private industry, who actually have to produce something they can sell. Government workers only have to find a problem that needs their attention, publicize it with the help of the press, and marshal special interests to help them get a budget. Even if they were not specifically instructed to do so, it wouldnt be hard for IRS employees to persuade themselves to stiff-arm activists who want to cut the size and power of government. “

We usually use Google on this side of the planet. What do you have?
Yes,you are quite justified castigating me for not utilizing Google to derive the explanation. I do use Google all the time to do just his very thing. Explaining why I hadn’t done so in this situation is to tell you that I’m flat on my back with two herniated discs not having an easy time making use of my computer a painful, difficult process. Sorry to have troubled you.
Al Gore’s right on one count - the corrupt liars in government unions have Gore’s back. And Clinton’s and Obama’s... they’re ‘enforcers’ - a goon squad. But they do more than have Gore’s back - they also bully traditional American citizens - traditional Jewish groups - conservative Hispanic groups and traditional Christians.
How charming. Creepy little liberal thugs.
And our biggest threat to them? That when we get back in power we’ll act like them. Not that we could be jerks on that level, but we could threaten to treat them the way they’ve treated us.
The Feds have our back? Well, they’ve got us bent over, and they are behind us, but “got your back” isn’t the proper term for it.
Nah - this was when he was vp.....and it was that stupid “golden hammer” he ran around the country presenting to various federal organizations.....a complete waste of time spent having to listen to a complete phony....
Yeah, they’ve got your back. But when they say, “Bend over,” you’d better look out.
There; fixed it.
Anyone who’s spent time working for the fed, in any capacity, knows how overly populated the government is with the stupid, the lazy, the obsequious (I think whatever you think, Boss), the apathetic and the vicious. Occasionally, there are good people, but they’re not the norm. The Peter Principle reigns supreme.
And as the percentage of total US population who are employed by the government grows, there will be fewer and fewer good people found to do the non-work.
Gore’s a perfect example, particularly since he never had to pass a background investigation.
He was given the nickname after an incident in which he was exposed trying to get a “special” from an outcall therapeutic masseuse.
