Could President Obama have read this op-ed by Ron Paul before his joint press conference with British Prime Minister David Cameron this morning? The presidents assessment of the Benghazi scandal was remarkably similar to that of the former congressman. Both men called the controversy a sideshow.
While Obama primarily went after Republicans for trying to politicize his administrations response to the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya last September, Paul chose a more equal opportunity approach in his article, published this morning on the website of the Ron Paul Institute for Peace and Prosperity.
Congressional hearings, White House damage control, endless op-eds, accusations, and defensive denials. Controversy over the events in Benghazi last September took center stage in Washington and elsewhere last week. However, the whole discussion is again more of a sideshow. Each side seeks to score political points instead of asking the real questions about the attack on the US facility, which resulted in the death of US Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans.
Paul accused Republicans of smelling political opportunity over evidence that the Administration heavily edited initial intelligence community talking points about the attack to remove or soften anything that might reflect badly on the president or the State Department.

He’s an a##.
Ron Paul should take it up with Bob Woodward!
Thanks Ron.
Jackass...
Ron Paul - irrelevant.
Ron Paul is a sideshow.
Ron Paul is a sideshow....
More like a freakshow.
DING! DING! DING!
This is a week old and Ron Paul is still a goofball.
Amen to that....
Turn his argument inside out and take that Ron Paul is wanting his own sideshow for his own political purposes. His statement shows no respect for those that died and I have thought for sometime he had similar feelings for any action of our military, worthy or not.
You all just hate the constitution and liberty. DOCTOR Ron Paul knows more about what is going on than all of you. Benghazi is no where in the Constitution, neither is Obama, therefore it is none of our business what Obama did or didn’t do in Benghazi.

HE IS RIGHT. I might also add, Obama referred to the talking points as a sideshow not Benghazi and they are, his orchestrated sideshow with the MSM, the diversion from what happened that night. Carefully read Paul’s comment. “INSTEAD OF ASKING THE REAL QUESTIONS ABOUT THE ATTACK”. I saw it happening, the yap, yap, yap of the talking points and not one question about the real issues was asked by media. That’s a twofer, MSM gets to look tough, Obama gets off the hook.
what?!
There are two "shows" here.
The first one is about the so called "talking points".
I think they should be called "lying points", the purposeful evasion of the truth by the administration to the public. A free country cannot function with a government that lies or obfuscates.
The second "show" is what happened in Benghazi.
This show tells us that this administration is incapable of overseeing the operation of our government. And Americans paid with their lives for this incompetence.
Note now when Republicans attack Democrats they are always
“playing politics.”
