A bipartisan group of House negotiators said Thursday it has reached an agreement in principle on comprehensive immigration reform legislation.
We have an agreement in principle, Rep. John Carter (R-Tex.) said as he and five other members of the group emerged from a two-hour meeting late Thursday afternoon.

It may be more blessed to give than to receive, but there’s got to be conditions on generosity. In situations such as the ones you’re referring to, history shows receivers usually don’t appreciate what they’re given; in fact it usually encourages them to demand even more.
Before giving, there has to be a positive action (initiative or sacrifice) on behalf of the reicpient. Otherwise the gift can actually be destructive in the long run.
