imho the voting age should be raised to 25 and that too, only after two conditions:
1. A person has served at least 1 year for society -- this can be the military or reserve or volunteer work (doctors, nurses, engineers, even hair-dressers for the elderly or poor) or community work (cleaning graffiti etc)
2. They have paid at least 6 months of taxes

People should realise that voting is a privilege granted to those who become a member of and contribute to society

I have always shared that thought too. Have to be 25 to vote and have paid taxes for at least a year. You really don’t know much about life at all until you are at least 25. The difference in maturity between 18 and 25 is huge.

I serve society by paying taxes...and in my church...
