Is Rush Limbaugh still relevant? (Barf Alert)
CNN ^ | May 14, 2013 | Dean Obeidallah

New York (CNN) -- Is Rush Limbaugh becoming a relic, a human version of "Mad Men," except without the style or cool clothes? Has Limbaugh become as dated as Jazzercise or "Macarena?"

All you need to do is look at the bottom line to see that Limbaugh is in trouble. Limbaugh once raked in the big bucks for his radio syndicator, Cumulus. But last week, Cumulus CEO Lew Dickey made it clear those days are over. Dickey reported that Cumulus had lost millions of dollars in ad sales because many advertisers no longer want to be associated with Limbaugh.

According to Dickey, advertisers began to pull away from Limbaugh after his February 2012 comments in which he infamously called law student Sandra Fluke a "slut" and a "prostitute" after she testified before Congress advocating birth control be covered by health insurance. Limbaugh's despicable comments were met with an avalanche of outrage and calls for corporations to stop advertising on Rush's show.

How badly did this advertising boycott hurt Limbaugh's show?

Well, according to the radio industry magazine "Radio Ink," 48 of the 50 network advertisers for Cumulus radio have excluded Limbaugh's show from their ad orders. I'm no media expert, but that sounds really bad for Rush.

What was Limbaugh's response? Was he contrite or remorseful? Nope. Instead Limbaugh lashed out last week at young women again by asserting that the reason ad sales fell off was because: "The media buyers at advertising agencies are young women, fresh out of college-liberal feminists who hate conservatism." Not only is this comment sexist on its face, remarkably Limbaugh apparently doesn't believe that his past antics have contributed to Cumulus' lost ad sales.

Another Alinsky Style hatchet job. Not unexpected.

He did. I like Rush but he goes too far sometimes. Making fun of peoples names and physical appearance is just juvenile and counter productive for our side. But he is an entertainer and that gives him license.

You notice the lead in is a social media hook about “Mad Men”? CNN wouldn’t pull half of Fox News audience Tonight even if they could show Angelina’s boobies.

LOL, sounds like he's more relevant than ever -- he's really p-o'ing this screedsome stooge. I think that's wonderfully relevant, and evidence that the Maharushie is getting the job done where it counts! -- in their pointy little heads!

Considering Obama just said he can't get anything done because of Rush, I'd say Rush is not only extremely relevant, but is the single most powerful man in the world.

[Your source quote] "Sadly for the Republican party, Rush Limbaugh (like Hannity, O'Reilly, Palin, Beck, etc.) epitomizes how radical the Republican party has become. All share an 1800's mentality ...."

Logic check, girls. If these radio hosts "[a]ll share an 1800's mentality" ......

Then how "radical" can they possibly be?!

Sounds like they're sticking to principles, and that that is creating a problem for the guys whose metier is ideological drift, a.k.a. dragging the People to the Left.

FAIL.

Sandra Fluke was wanting something on the order of 3,000 condoms per year and wanted others to pay for her to have sex.

That was the background of the slut/prostitute comment.

She was an angry sex positive activist who targeted a Catholic university. She went there knowing that they differed on sexual politics. She was not caught “unaware” or “unable to pay” (since she subsequently toured Europe on vacation with her boyfriend).

Little to apologize for when you are pointing out that a hard left liberal is LYING to members of Congress and the public.

Any news on whether she donated them to a needy 32B girl?

Better an 1800s self-reliance mentanlity than an Orwellian/Stalinst “1984” mentality.

The pinklisting of conservative thought in the media continues.

Only blacklisting of known communists is "bad". Funny that.

Isn’t that ironic? I guess that Obama didn’t read this article.

I guess he even sucks at news watching. If I were Justin Timberlake, I'd want my $32k back until he improves.

“Making fun of peoples’ names and physical appearance is just...counterproductive for our side.”

Sorry, but I disagree. I have seen the lunatic fringe become the ruling class in my lifetime, and making fun of people has been one of their most effective weapons—scurrilous though it may be.

“But he is an entertainer and that gives him license.”

Yes, that’s true. That’s why I think the appropriate response when leftards call his remarks “infamous” is a facepalm and a broad, long-suffering “FU, you ignorant POS,” with strong emphasis on the first “you” and the last word of the sentence.

I have said much worse about that wanton harlot Fluke. But then, I’m not Limbaugh, so who cares?

“As opposed to the “relevant” Anderson Pooper who called patriotic men, women, and children “teabaggers”

Why is he able to walk the streets in safety? Are there no men left in America?

Rush’s two biggest biffs:
1. Operation Chaos
2. Unwavering conviction that Bambi was going to lose in a landslide last November.

The first one was a big waste of time. Second a big F for Fail.
Both did harm to conservative causes.
El Rushbo doesn’t always do his homework. He relies on Drudge which is not a good source.
We Freepers know more than most.

Sure Rush has a big audience and remains ahead of other talk radio hosts, but the advertisers who abandoned Rush appear to be on to something.

Lost ad sales does not falsify or negate objective truth.
