Russia today claimed to have arrested a US diplomat in Moscow on suspicion of spying.
The FSB counter intelligence service claimed it caught Ryan Christopher Fogle red handed seeking to recruit a Russian intelligence officer.
It said the envoy, a third secretary in the political section of the American embassy, was arrested overnight - it did not say which service the target was from or what stage the matter had reached.
Pictures released after the US diplomat's arrest show he was in possession of two wigs, three pairs of sunglasses, a microphone, knife and a substantial amount of money.
He was detained with 'special technical devices, written instructions for the person he was recruiting, a lot of cash, and things to help change one's appearance,' according to the FSB.
'Recently, the US intelligence service has made repeated attempts to recruit the staff of Russian law enforcement agencies and special services, which were detected and carried out under control of the Russian FSB counterintelligence service.'
After his arrest, he was taken to the FSB headquarters at the Lubyanka, in Moscow, and later handed over to the US embassy in keeping with diplomatic protocols.
Pictures were released of the US diplomat undergoing questioning inside the offices of the FSB, formerly known in Soviet times as the KGB. It is unclear whether the US will retaliate by expelling a Russian diplomat.

The Russians are helping out their bud Obama. More distractions to wipe the front page clean.
+1
All he needs now are the lawyers and the guns.
Obama- "Well, you see Whoopie.....There was this person who was in Asia who was seeking a sex change who used to work for our government. Somebody in Texas made an antigovernment / anti sex change on the Asian continent video. The Soviets became outraged at the notion they did not approve of gender reassignment and it made a public ruckus. The Russians sent him / her home for his / her personal safety.
We arrested every film producer in Texas just to be on the safe side."
Wonder what bozo traded him for.
A DISTRACTION ? LOL
Based on the items this person was caught with, they sound less like a spy and more like a serial killer of prostitutes.
This is a level of energy and enterprise that is rare, coming from the CIA. Maybe this is disinformation, but media accounts have indicated that Langley’s weakness is that it relies almost exclusively on walk-ins or sources shared by allied intel agencies for its humint.
This has been SOP since Truman disbanded the OSS and started the CIA on its way.
The link below is my reply re the thread one the possible number of CIA spooks, who were at Benghazi on 9/11/12 and held prisoners in America, since then.

Thanks Grandpa Dave.
Whoever told him to go after that particular person, should be held accountable.

There’s been some comment here that the CIA is ticked off at Dear Reader and is responsible for Hussein’s chickens of late coming to roost.
If so, this could be Hussein’s shot across the bow, to further expose or threaten to further expose CIA activities.
