The Mail On Sunday today exposes the massive international security risk posed by a gun that can be easily made with new 3D printers.
We built the weapon, which is capable of firing a live round, from blueprints available on the internet then smuggled it on to a packed Eurostar train.
Two reporters passed completely unchallenged through strict airport-style security to carry the gun on to a London to Paris service in the weekend rush-hour, alongside hundreds of unsuspecting travellers.
The pistol, capable of firing a deadly 0.38-calibre bullet, was produced in under 36 hours using a revolutionary £1,700 machine to print its components. And because all the parts are plastic, they did not trigger the metal detectors all Euro-star passengers must pass through.
Last night, the train operator began an urgent investigation into the security breach as experts called for airports and public buildings to review their procedures in light of our revelations.
The Mail on Sunday pieced together the 16-part pistol called The Liberator by its creators after downloading the designs. They were originally published by an American university student, who proved the design works by successfully firing a bullet on a shooting range....

Yeah, was it a .38 Special or a.38 Colt short or long? Or maybe a 38 S&W?
I guess that all the other ways to kill passengers on a crowded train are not as “deadly” as a gun capable of shooting a “deadly 0.38-calibre bullet”. I suspect that the reporters would have been just has hyperbolic had the gun only been made to shoot a 0.22-calibre bullet.
But how do we expect collectivists who grew up in a society where the law hardly allows for the use of deadly force in self-defense and forbids the private ownership of handguns to view liberty? It scares the organic refuse out of them. As a result of government tyranny, they only know firearms in the hands of police and those who are at war with government or society.

When In Trouble Or In Doubt Run In Circles Scream And Shout!!
Yes, I suppose that’s fair enough. Oh well, I guess they better get to panicking.
Nope, even a bb can kill.
So can a softball.
Aimed projectiles cause damage, a majority of scientists agree on this!
More likely a .380 auto cartridge.
I bet you some child somewhere has shot one of those down his throat or some thing like that and...
Life is fragile.
Dunno, but I bet they hollowed it out so they could pour extra deadly in.
Just by pure coincidence today, my daughter and I went shooting at a private range. She was trying out a Ruger Security Six for home defense. I had a handful of old .38 Special wadcutter rounds that we burned through just so she could get comfortable with the feel of the gun. Then I gave her some real .357 SWC rounds to try. A noticeable bump up in power, even though the hole size is the same.
It’s so special when the press wants to become part of the criminal element! Criminals do not have to print a one shot plastic gun! They can buy 20 Glocks or whatever on the street!
HAs the word reporter become synonymous with IDIOT!
No one does knickers in knots quite the same way as the English.
What is more deadly on a crowded train? A plastic gun that can fire 2 or 3 times, or a ceramic knife?
They made plastic ammunition?
Ok, you can take one on a train. What can you reasonably accomplish with a single shot pistol on a train? Doubtful you could hijak it if there was a sealed door between you and the crew. Kill someone? Yes, you could kill one person, then get subdued by other passengers. It doesn’t seem capable of destroying a train or bringing down the British train system. What’s to panic about?
The entry hole might be the same size but I bet the exit wounds look a bit different :-) Good on you for getting your daughter prepared.
They made plastic ammunition?
Case less Ammunition. Will a metal detector detect Lead Ball?I’ll have to test that out.
i hope these guys don’t find out about ceramic knives...
The bullet Dia. of the 380acp pistol round is the same as the 9mmLuger .355.
Thank God most of the commenters see through this stunt.
Well. Not The Mail
Introducing the world's smallest gun that fires deadly 300mph bullets - but is just TWO inches long
