RE: Then WHY is it voted resoundingly down everywhere We The People are allowed to vote on it?
I wish I shared your optimism. in November 2012 Maine voted in favor of a law allowing same sex couples to marry.
In California, the percentage of those who are opposed to proposition 8 has been dwindling from a huge majority to a bare majority.
It used to be. Blue states are now voting for it. Red states like NC are still resoundingly defeating it.
I cannot think of another issue that seen such a sea change in a few short years. Unfortunately, those of us against it stopped fighting about 5 years ago because preserving marriage looked politically settled. The proponents of change went into overdrive starting with the H8 campaign in Califoria and really moved the needle...making it a ‘civil rights’ issue. Our side needs to learn lessons from this situation because I think we laughed off that stupid campaign and didn’t take it seriously.
It no longer is.
We are the minority opinion now.
It’s not. Sadly, the last election showed how very low this country has sunk.
Actually, 1. We are not a rule by the mob democracy, 2. Three states voted by ballot initiative in three states lastNovember. But hey, the sheeple should rule in place of a representative Republic. /sarc
