From the article: The thinking on DeMint’s move slowly evolved to "Jim can do things outside of the system he can’t do/say while in the Senate."

That's a rationalization, a moronic line of thinking. The best way to change "the system" is to be in it. A Senator can do whatever the hell he wants other than insult his colleagues on the floor. He just wanted out and took the best job he could get. There are likely no "bigger and better things" in his future. He quit, that's fine, it's his life. But if he ever deserved the "conservative hero" tag he certainly doesn't after leaving in the middle of his term.

US Senator > Think tank boss

Just like: Alaska Governor > Woman about town

Real political power > influence from the sidelines

I clearly remember early 2011 when DeMint went on Cavuto saying ‘There is no way in hell I want that (POTUS) job’ and I kept posting that he wasnt running yet I kept seeing comments here saying ‘he doesnt really mean it, he will run’.

Ironically things appear the opposite of what he said above. More than ever he acts like he really wants to be liked by MSM now more than anything. The complete opposite of Ted Cruz.
