Ive been wondering how the IRS was going to determine whether taxpayers were complying with the individual mandate contained in Obamacare.
I neednt have wondered. The IRS is a bureaucracy and what do bureaucracies adore almost as much as taxpayer-financed trips to Vegas for conferences?
Forms, of course.
When Obamacares individual mandate takes effect in 2014, all Americans who file income tax returns must complete an additional IRS tax form.
The new form will require disclosure of a taxpayers personal identifying health information in order to determine compliance with the Affordable Care Acts individual mandate.
As confirmed by IRS testimony to the tax-writing House Committee on Ways and Means, taxpayers will file their tax returns reporting their health insurance coverage, and/or making a payment.
So why will the Obama IRS require your personal identifying health information?
Simply put, there is no way for the IRS to enforce Obamacares individual mandate without such an invasive reporting scheme. Every January, health insurance companies across America will send out tax documents to each insured individual. This tax documenta copy of which will be furnished to the IRSmust contain sufficient information for taxpayers to prove that they purchased qualifying health insurance under Obamacare.
This new tax information document must, at a minimum, contain: the name and health insurance identification number of the taxpayer; the name and tax identification number of the health insurance company; the number of months the taxpayer was covered by this insurance plan; and whether or not the plan was purchased in one of Obamacares exchanges.
This will involve millions of new tax documents landing in mailboxes across America every January, along with the usual raft of W-2s, 1099s, and 1098s.....

Just like the National Firearms Act was passed to give idle Prohibition agents something to do, Ubamacare was passed to give feral government workers something to do.
We’ve been doing this in MA for a couple years now. You get a separate document verifying that you have coverage, and it gets submitted with all your other docs.
Everyone just claim a Muslim exemption. Allah Akbar indeed.
Say what? We will be taxed on the health insurance we are forced to buy?
Muslim....no. mennonite, amish...yes
Feral? LOL!!!
Actually, it's more than just that. Obamacare calls for the addition of thousands of new federal employees, including, IIRC, about 15,000 additional IRS agents. There are quite a number of completely new agencies created as well.
With the popularity of the regime on the wane, it is still possible to get Obamacare repealed before the full brunt of it goes into effect in January if we make a big push for repeal NOW!!! Repeal will save the health of many Americans and will prevent an economic collapse. There are a lot of other big items headlining the news right now, so let's not take our eyes off the ball!
sickening
Come and get me feddies! You had better be armed and prepared to pay the price!
What if I just tell them I didn’t earn any money for 2013 and cannot/could not afford their mandated health insurance?
Hopefully, this will somewhat help conservatives win the House and Senate, not that I’m counting on it. The majority of American voters are pretty stupid.
“and in 2015 you’ll be taxed on it...”
Yup, after the 2014 elections.
We were required this year to include the cost of employer provided heath care on w-2s this year. Not just the employer cost..the whole premium. Not taxable at this time.
Of course this is just to determine who has insurance thru an employer.
I was born at night...but not last night. This will eventually be taxed.
They are armed and YOU, the taxpayer have already paid for their ammo, weapons, armored vehicles,.....
