Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD) paid a visit to Morning Joe to discuss this weeks news surrounding Benghazi which included the hearing and this mornings story about the edited talking points. Amid the panel discussion, Cummings spoke specifically about one of the witnesses, alleging that Republicans tried to change his story in a way that contradicted his sworn testimony.
Asked whats next, Cummings (who, you may recall, criticized GOP Rep. Darrell Issa for politicizing Benghazi during Wednesdays hearing) said it was a search for the truth. Referring to one of the witnesses who testified at this weeks hearing, Cummings said, there is sworn testimony from Gregory Hicks that said nobody coerced him or tried to change his story.
You all reported on this show that Cheryl Mills was hollering at him. He never said that, Cummings said. But the interesting thing is, in the hearing, one of our members tried to put the words in his mouth that was the opposite of what he just testified to in a sworn testimony a few days before. [...] So when Republicans do that, it takes away from our credibility.
At that point, Joe Scarborough interjected to question whether Cheryl Mills, top aide to Hillary Clinton, never contacted Hicks to express dissatisfaction with his raising questions and speaking up. He pointed to the story about the incident in the New York Times, reminding Cummings that the Times isnt quite a right-wing outlet.
Are you telling me Mr. Hicks changed his story? Scarborough pressed.
That is exactly right, Cummings replied.
I dont blame him, Cummings added. I blame the Republicans on our committee trying to put words in his mouth. And we put out a piece yesterday to show what he said in sworn testimony on April 11th before a Republican investigator and then what he said at the hearing. But again, the Republicans were trying to get him to say things.
Watch below, via MSNBC:
Possibly the stupidest man to ever sit in the House of Representatives, and that is saying something.
See the website for video.
Don’t want to watch that [deleted] so I’ll ask, is there a testimony difference or is Cummings blowing smoke?
That’s right, Elijah ...run to the media whores.
I watched the entire testimony. Dems ALL had the same “talking points” in response to the testimony. They were like a broken record. I was embarrassed for them. And, they left before the testimony of the witnesses was even over!!!!!!
They did such a sh*tty job of trying to fight it, they’re now turning to the media whores to do their dirty work for them.
Won’t work, you bastards. You don’t care and it shows. (and THAT goes for the media, as well-—YOU DON’T CARE.)
He's jes representin.
Crazy Elijah blowing smoke again. He thinks Americans are idiots. (YAWN)
The Dems have been politicizing Katrina and Iraq for years..and how about “Blame Bush” hey Dems, do you think you will EVER stop blaming Bush..so STFU about politicizing OK..Dems are the kings of politicizing EVERYTHING
“Possibly the stupidest man to ever sit in the House of Representatives, and that is saying something.”
Is he any relation to the cell phone lady?
He represents his demographic well.
Mr. Cummings, the GOP cannot put anything anywhere for any reason at all.
The only actual purpose in their existence is to serve as the scapegoat for your criminal enterprise party.
And you expect me to believe that they manipulated this man somehow?
Did they put tears in his eyes and pain in his voice too?
Was that a GOP ventriloquist throwing his voice?
Mr. Cummings, with all due respect, go **** yourself.
He's going to cover Obunga's ass at any and all costs. RACIST SOB.
“He thinks Americans are idiots.”
He’s right——the ones that voted for him and Bath-House Barry are.
Cummings brought this issue up during the hearing.
Mr. Hicks said that he felt he was being ignored/persecuted/reduced to a lower job position/yelled at/etc.
Cummings brought up the fact that they had a piece of paper that Hicks had signed stating that (AT THE TIME) he was not being punished. Apparently this was signed by Hicks in the early stages of the incident, and the DEMS are trying to use it to say that he is contradicting himself.
I.E. The best they got is a bunch of B.S. that anyone can see means nothing, considering what they have done to him since he signed it.
Yup! He knows that only idiots would vote for them.
Your tagline says it all:
The monsters are due on Maple Street.
Only, The monsters are HERE on Maple Street.
I guess you forgot San Fran Nan, Cynthia McKinney, DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz and Maxine.
Thanks for sitting through the whole thing and for the summary. I didn’t have the patience for it. I flipped back to it a few times, but after I heard the “death is part of life” bit, I quit watching any of it at that point...
And it wasn’t impatience with watching a hearing, I’ve done plenty of that. It was impatience with the Dim/Communist dribble...
