When President Obama unveiled the Affordable Care Act, he said, "You won't lose your doctor." However, thousands in our area say they are because their doctors are changing their practice.
The doctors are switching to a concierge or boutique medical practice. --snip-- Dr. Lazowick says he wanted to get back to the reasons he became a doctor, which was difficult with the way healthcare is going.
He says, "I was on this conveyor belt where I was treating a problem moving to the next."
Dr. Lazowick is not alone. Many primary care doctors are taking this route. And the pace seems to be accelerating, with the approach of full implementation of healthcare reform in January 2014.

My dad was an OB-GYN. He retired early in the ‘80s when the government started to interfere with his practice. I think that whirring sound I hear now is him spinning in his grave.
Great. Now we can go shopping and visit the doctor at the same time.
Wow, liberals get their hands on something and it immediately turns to cr@p? Who coulda seen this coming?
My doctor of 20 years switched to ‘Concierge Medicine’ at the beginning of 2013
he wanted to get back to the reasons he became a doctor, which was difficult with the way healthcare is going.
I’d be willing to pay more for doctor visits to home. Now that would be service. How much? Sign me up and bring me a half gallon of milk and a loaf of bread, okay?
Well, I guess the doctors read the “you have to pass the bill to see what’s in it”, and decided to take action.
Unintended consequences anyone???
Are you sure the consequences were unintended?
This is no surprise to this retired physician. But it seems to be a bit of a surprise to the R.N. who wrote the article. Obamacare will drive primary care physicians to concierge practice, but this article fails to point this out.
The Democrats will find ways to punish these doctors. The mechanisms they can employ are numerous.
More like you can now go to the DMV and wait for your doctor along with waiting for your plate.
The libtard assclowns always seem to be surprised that people change their behavior when the rules are changed ... idiots!
The doctor that I had for over 10 years was switching to concierge care a few years ago, so I considered it. However, she was also in favor of Obamacare....so much so that she was one of the physicians in the Rose Garden with Obama....and the only one from Arizona. I dropped her services right before that, but I still don’t understand how she could be in favor of both Obamacare and concierge care.
actually, this sounds like a bargain, I am going to look at signing up
Soon enough we’ll see the IRS change their regulations such that “concierge service” will result in some sort of reduced fees and/or higher taxes. Also, “concierge” and “service” will be cause for more scrutiny of tax returns.
It’s very, very sad, but the day will soon come when doctors are compelled by the government to practice medicine as the government sees fit.
Even just quitting the practice of medicine will be illegal without gov OK.
Doctors will even have to get permission to move to a new location, or to leave the country.... I know it sounds crazy but unless something happens to change our direction this is what will happen.
Pointing out a symptom, but never seeking (let alone finding) the problem.
0bama and his minions are achieving their goal with the American healthcare system. It has always been about control, and that comes with single-payer. 0bamacare is only the stepping stone to the fully socialized model envisioned by the commie-in-chief.
They’re worried this will turn out to be the “haves and have nots”. Unintended consequences.
I have been seeing my local internist for almost six years now at a reduced fee for cash. No paper, no electronic medical records, it’s been great.
Our local Walgreen’s has a clinic staffed by PA’s - asks questions, fills in the blank with pt’s answers and out pops the diagnosis and treatment plan. Was there last night because the little one had an ice cream crisis and it’s just right around the corner. At 7 p.m. there were at least 14 people waiting to be seen. They announced they were closing for the day over the PA and suggested that the people go to the nearest emergency room or come back the next morning at 9 a.m. Welcome to the new standard of medical care.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the concierge docs in the future are subjected to: Denial of state licensure, no prescriptions filled if written by a doctor on the “not Obamacare approved list”, hospital stays for their patients would not be approved, lab tests would not be performed by outside labs, etc.
Obama and Sect. Sillybus are not going to allow this amount of independence.
Are you sure the consequences were unintended?
Bingo! As far as I can see this will allow the class warrior in chief to say See!? Those dirty, greedy BASTARDS!!
