Just before the very first Mother’s Day that we were together, Boss # 1 told me to NEVER get her a Mother’s Day gift and to NEVER tell her, “Happy Mother’s Day”.....because.....”I am not your mother!” She was very emphatic about it.
He was really Jerry Lawrence Samuels III, composer of "The Shelter of Your Arms", sung by Sammy Davis, Jr. He runs a tobacco shop in Center City Philadelphia these days.
