Mark Mardell, the BBC's North American editor, issued a mea culpa of sorts today after Jonathan Karl at ABC News dropped his bombshell that proves beyond any doubt that the Obama Administration lied about its involvement in editing the CIA's talking points surrounding the September 11 attack on our consulate in Libya.
In a piece titled, "After Benghazi revelations, heads will roll," Mardell writes, "In the interests of full disclosure I have to say I have not in the past been persuaded that allegations of a cover-up were a big deal." He adds, "It seemed to me a partisan attack based on very little."
That all changed with today's revelations. Mardell now believes:
This is the first hard evidence that the state department did ask for changes to the CIA's original assessment.
Specifically, they wanted references to previous warnings deleted and this sentence removed: "We do know that Islamic extremists with ties to al-Qa'ida participated in the attack."
There's little doubt in my mind that this will haunt Hillary Clinton if she decides to run for president, unless she executes some pretty fancy footwork....

Couldn't it have been delegate to her by the Obamanation?
Put your money on it. Hildebeast will win and win big in the general presidential election of November 2016. You saw it here.
We can only hope......sigh..................
OK, now let’s hear it from Candy Crowley.
I agree, Hillary is done unless she gets some really creative fabrication going soon.
The media wing of the Obama cult is scrambling to minimize damages, and redirect public thinking back to blaming partisans for slandering Hillary. Dear leader Obama, of course, isn’t responsible for anything, and the cult’s PR people, the media, are working hard to keep the people from thinking he is.
So is this why petreaus’ affair was exposed..to keep him from revealing that CIA talking points were changed by the white house?
Actually, newspapers in Europe are more diverse than in the US, where there are no major newspapers which are not left-wing. In the UK, there is also the Telegraph, which is a major, respected newspaper which is right of center. France and Spain have right-of-center papers, too.
As Michelle Obama's Veep?
And if that all happens, who stands to benefit?
America.
My service was a very long time ago, but it seems to me this is not actually accurate. Not to be defending the Administration, but unless a specific order from the President was given to move (which does not appear to be the case), is this accurate? When I was was in, a General or a Colonel could absolutely countermand the order or activity of a subordinate, and I highly doubt this has changed.
The article says that Ben Rhodes and Jay Carney are also implicated. That’s Obama’ White House.
Watergate took months to break as well, with an election in between. Amazing similarities, really.
Possibly, or the other way around. A nightmare ticket but one with a strong chance to win given an electorate that has jumped the shark.
What the General was stating was that in ALL cases when American lives are at stake we never leave people behind. In those cases we DO NOT "stand down."
What media. What we have is an infestation by radical anti american punks who think their journalists but if truth be told are no different than the group who watches the naked emperor walk pass and marvel at how nice his cloths are.
Biden?
