Stag Arms To Design Connecticut-Legal AR-15 Rifle

Connecticut’s historic gun law signed by Governor Dannel Malloy went into effect last month, signed April 4, but the state is giving gun manufacturers and gun shops until June 1 to understand and apply the laws to their businesses.

Gun shop owners like Mark Malkowski, owner of Stag Arms, have said they should have been given more time to interpret it before it went to law. Stag Arms, producer of the AR-15 in Connecticut, said it was considering moving out of Connecticut when the new law passed because the gun cannot be sold here, only out of state.

The owner tells FoxCT he has a new idea now to build a Connecticut-legal version of an AR 15, designing three new guns, one with a different caliber than the original, and two that lack the now illegal features.

Placating the enemy does not behoove you in the long run...

Connecticut legal?

Presumably the rifle includes a forked stick and a strong elastic...

Designing a compliant rifle would be a really bad idea for everyone. They should move instead.

I remember seeing some California legal versions several years ago. One was a single shot with the magazine well not machined out. The other was a muzzle loader. I wonder how many were sold?

and two that lack the now illegal features.

The article doesn't say what those features are. Some capacity restriction I'm sure.

This is not placating the enemy.

It is about using their own definitions against them.

They think nobody will be able to sell such a gun.

Designing one that can be sold and meet their stupid rules just nullified their intent. This is a IN YOUR FACE move, not a placating move.

I would guess the adjustable stock, the pistol grip, and possibly the mounting systems for additional gear.

Stag should move and refuse to sell any firearms to CT law enforcement, period. If the blue states want to disarm, then we should accomodate them to the fullest extent possible.

I believe that the new CT law references the same old “assault weapon” features such as a pistol grip, flash hider, bayonet lug etc, but now if it has even ONE of those features it is banned. Also only 10-round mags.

Perfect until the law is immediately amended and it’s back to the drawing board again. I wonder how cost effective that game will be.

Maybe a bayonet mount and the black color. They seem to hate those two things. Possibly a fixed magazine.

At some point it’s back to April 19th, 1775.
