Their business model was insane, never actually purchasing the copyright, and neither intending or able to publish or sell copies or licenses. This is like the situation where we get the term “canard.” It came from a French phrase describing a swindle as to part-sell a duck, or “vendre le canard a moiety.” So this was a canard and now it is a dead duck.
