As CBS 2s Dave Carlin reported, Jack Pawlowski was led out of his Queens home in handcuffs Wednesday, with his stunned wife and three young kids looking on. He said nothing as detectives put him into a squad car.
. . .
Pawlowski told CBS 2 he took a toy gun, and two of his kids, around the corner to Ditmars Park. It was around noon and packed with kids and their parents.
. . .
Another mom who was on a playground at the park at the time said she walked up to Pawlowski, and told him to take the toy gun and his kids and leave.
I dont tend to take things lying down, so I went past the parents, and so I walked straight over and I confronted him, said Leni Calas. I mean, hes brandishing a firearm and I dont care if that firearm is plastic. Thats unacceptable.
. . .
He remained in custody Wednesday evening, on charges of reckless endangerment, endangering the welfare of a minor, resisting arrest, and possession of an illegal BB gun.

The fruits of Feminism.
the insane people left there will pass laws demanding payment before you can leave build a wall so no one can leave
SCREW you New York ... you are no longer Americans but are instead a flock of pathetic sheep not worthy of the liberties your fathers fought for
One good thing ... when CW2 comes the fed government won’t have any real men to draft to fight us in the south this time
WHOA big boy thier’s still a large number of us “MEN and WOMEN” living in NY state that say the powers that be can kiss our azzes as evidenced by our choice of weaponry.Just because we can’t overcome them in the voting booth does’nt mean were not ready for them.
****Arizona is a gun-friendly state. VERY gun-friendly. But if you shoot a BB gun in a public park in Arizona you will be arrested.****
And the article states that he was letting his THREE year old son shoot the pellet gun in a park full of children. Then he let his daughter take the gun and ride with it around the park on her bike while she pointed at other children.
This negligent father should not be our poster boy for protecting the 2nd Amendment.
I’m up for forming a posse to break him out of jail.
Nothing less is going to free this illegally arrested man.
Battle of Athens mashed up with Escape from New York.
The problem with getting a judgment against any gov’t agency is that the people responsible for the decision don’t get the penalty.
Before I even read this I knew it was New York city, just by seeing the words “arrest” and “toy gun” and woweee whut a surprise it is. I moved out of NYC last year, it’s a despotic state now. People think I’m kidding, I’m not. Everything revolves around the “Dear leader” Despot Mike Bloomberg. It’s *just* like North Korea there, the only difference is there is food (what they *let* you eat) and they let you leave, but before you can leave you have to pay a lot of money which to me is no different from a North Korean bribing the state and guards. All you New Yorkers, am I right or what? The city dictates every aspect of the individuals life. What you can own, eat, how much money you have, if you own a business, how you spend your free time. This is EXACTLY why we need a 2nd amendment. Tyranny can’t happen in the USA? Ha ha ha think again.
Says who? Were you there? Was this a metallic BB gun? Or airsoft?
Way to toss him under the bus without any verifiable facts.
Yes.
The article is painfully imprecise. And jail seems WAYover the top. But the father is a lousy candidate for poster boy.
BB guns have killed.
Many are now conditioned with this reaction and mindset. The only way to reverse it is literally going to require a Civil War, IMO.
From the article:
****Smilios saw the toy up close, and at first thought it was the real thing. She gave CBS 2 a cellphone photo she said shows Pawlowski firing pellets at a tree.
The next thing, he took his son, who is 3, and showed him how to use it, and then the family took turns shooting the gun. He gave it to his daughter, who took off on the bicycle and started racing around the park with the gun pointing this way and just started pointing it at the kids, Smilios said. ****
Now - it if was one of those air guns shooting the little plastic pellets (which it probably/hopefully was) - the good people of NY should go back to clamping down on the REAL criminals carrying 48 ounces sodas and stuff.

I feel your pain. Michigan has a R Gov with both houses R, yet everyone thinks we're all Dems because of Detroit and the union vote. OF COURSE there are still good people in EVERY state...good for you for making your point though.
I agree. In light of the reported facts, all the hysterical hyperventilating on this thread is just silly.
Agree. Hubby bought our 6 yr old grandson a Daisy BB Gun for Christmas. We have a ‘shooting range’ set up in our back yard where Hubby is teaching him the rules and how to shoot. That BB Gun is treated with respect by our grandson because it is a prelude to later on teaching him how to shoot real guns.
Does Smilios have pictures of the Daughter pointing it other children? If not, then you are going to believe a gun hating Nazi?
Since the merger of the five boroughs in 1898, New York City has many of the privileges of a State (granted by the NYS Legislature), one of which is the power to write its own gun laws. BB guns are illegal to possess in NYC, so there are no background checks.
Leaving aside the idiotic nature of NYC gun laws, shooting a BB gun in a public park seems to me like a very very bad idea.
I grew up in NYC, and these parks are typically small and full of small children running around. I started all 7 of my children with a CO2 rifle, and I enforced range discipline and safe handling rules from the beginning. I still don't allow CO2 rifle fire when there are kids playing in my yard (and I live in the woods in NH).
I don't think we know all of this story.
Plastic pellet airsoft is about as dangerous as a sucker dart gun. Probably less so...
I’m aware of your situation as I spent 15 winters in the Grayling and Cadillac areas snowmobiling, there’s a LOT of fine people in Michigan!
