Even if he is not the best qb, the NFL has a dearth of good quarterbacks and tons of “low level” guys are playing. In Tebow’s case the argument about his skill level is interesting but the guy is a proven winner, and some team usually takes a chance on such a qb.
He hasn’t really been blackballed. He was mismanaged by the Jets. They tried to trade him, but every knew they wanted to get rid of him and would dump him so they could get him for free, so nobody offered anything good in trade (why pay for a player you can get off waivers). The Jets then didn’t waive him until after the draft, when everybody’s roster is full and their primary goal is signing their new drafts. If they’d dumped him earlier somebody might have gone for it. Figure when training camp starts some team will be unhappy with what they’ve got and make a go. But of course the list is shorter now because the goal coming out of the draft is to have your lineup. Nobody is ever blackballed, but it’s a matter of him and a team being lined up in what they want and what he’ll give. If he was willing to be a trick play RB he’d get a lot more openings. But in a world where Brian Urlacher is currently lacking a team he needs to understand teams are being picky right now, they aren’t going to over pay, and they aren’t going to sign guys that don’t fit perfectly into what they want.
I admire and respect Tebow’s faith and skills and power...wow
But am I the only one recalls Gino Torreta
