Officers even warned the 10-year-old she might have committed criminal damage as she played the traditional game outside her house in Ramsgate, Kent. …

The angry father has lodged a complaint with Kent Police about their heavy-handed behavior.

Brat. And the Parents have no respect for others who have to see that crud scribbled all over the sidewalk/street. It's not cute and cuddly, and teaches no respect. Flame away.

Just goes to show how impersonal society has become that they now have to bitch about kids being kid. Must be pretty uncontrollably anal to need to obsess over some temporary chalk marks on a sidewalk.

Flame on...

Good grief. You've found me out!

No, it's all been you outting yourself.

Again, why not just ask the parents to keep the kid from drawing on the sidewalk instead of police intimidating a little girl into believing she's a criminal?

Never mind.

If the parents can afford the chalk, they can afford the fine. They could pull
the carpet from their floor and let the kid draw there.
That would be acceptable.

Now wait, wait just a minute here. Shouldn’t it be apparent that the girl had no intention of doing anything criminal, that is no malicious intent? It was drawn on public property, no one complained, and it wasn’t permanent. Now take those cuffs off and put that bullet away.

I guess the lemonade stand is out.

First hopscotch. Now you're suggesting a lemonade stand? I guess you want her to descend into a life of crime! Shame on you!

What's wrong with taking up the carpet to give the little lovely her freedom?
Chalking up the sidewalk is bad parenting.

Skip to the loo my darling.

While they have their noses out of my”joint” they want to pit this is child in the clink?

Hopefully, “cooler” heads will prevail.

I'd agree with you if the dig safe graffiti artists used only chalk. They paint their crap which lasts for years. You should be whipped for child abuse.

WTF are you talking about?

I played hopskotch as a kid and yes, we did mark up the sidewalk. we even marked up or driveway.

She didn’t do anything malicious or permanent.

but going after the gangbangers that “tag” the whole area is too hard and dangerous.

Police are judged by how many arrests/tickets they make. Little girls are safer targets than gang-bangers.

I don't see how it's right to mark up public property. Nobody can logically explain
how it's right to me without personal attacks. Maybe you can?

Graffiti is Graffiti.
