The problem ensued when former Navy SEALs Glen Doherty and Tyrone Woods actually fought back against the terrorists attacking the compound, who were told they could easily walk in and grab the ambassador. This angered them, as many were killed and wounded. In their anger, they tortured, raped, and murdered the ambassador. Not wanting Muslims blamed, and being a Muslim himself, the President personally took control of the "spin" of the situation. He personally re-wrote the intelligence talking points describing this as a terrorist attack, and made up out of whole cloth the allegation that this attack was in response to a "hateful video posted on YouTube that offended Muslims worldwide." That was killing three birds with one stone: deflecting criticism of Muslim murder, simultaneously justifying their terror, and attacking American's First Amendment rights all in one fell swoop. That is why the President repeated this lie over and over again, including in front of the United Nations. He personally ordered the military to "stand down" including a C-130 with Special Forces who were about to launch a rescue mission, and by F-16s from Aviano who were about to overfly the compound while the terrorists were attacking it. The President continues to lie to this very day, and is proud of it because he is defending Islam and the Prophet Muhammad, Peace Be Upon Him."

Also let's not forget that the Obama Administration was blaming an Egyptian Christian's video for the attack. The Administration was probably hoping that this would trigger an increase of Muslim on Christian violence in Egypt.
