This happens periodically - I work in a savage industry. In this case, the law firm we were working for took us off the project for some reason I have been unable to discern.

I will say that out of all the law firms I have worked for over the last ten years, this firm was the most obnoxious. The agency has already submitted us all for another project with a different firm.

The net result, I hope, is that I'll get a few days off and return to work early next week. The project I am submitted for starts Monday.

LIONS IN BATTLE!!

HM/1 (FMF) BENNY FLORES, USN, AWARDED SILVER STAR

HM/1 (FMF) Benny Flores stands at attention after he received the Silver Star Medal during ceremony for heroism in Afghanistan on April 28, 2012. At right is Marine Sgt. Major Harrison Tanksley.

Perhaps no one is confronted more intimately with the horrors of war than hospital corpsmen and medics. When explosives rip apart a human body or stop a beating heart, the person the corpsman tries to save is often a friend or comrade.

Afterward, they often overlook the many they saved, haunted by the ones they couldn’t.

For Doc Flores, his own concussion and lacerations were serious enough to require hospitalization. He didn’t worry about that until he was airborne with the wounded in the medevac flight to Camp Bastion.

The Citation for Doc Flores's Silver Star:

"For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action with combat operations against the enemy while serving as Field Medical Service Technician, I Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward), on 28 April 2012, in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. During a partnered convoy, Hospital Corpsman First Class Flores was a passenger in a vehicle that was struck by an Improvised Explosive Device attack and received small arms fire from several enemy positions. Without regard for his personal safety, with shrapnel wounds to his arms and neck, Hospital Corpsman First Class Flores treated the nearest wounded Marine while he was engaged by enemy small arms fire. He assisted the wounded Marine in maneuvering to a covered position and without hesitation, ran back into the street, exposed to enemy fire, and quickly provided medical assistance to a severely wounded Afghan Uniform Police Officer still in the damaged vehicle. Hospital Corpsman First Class Flores moved the injured officer to cover and administered First Aid. Under the cover of suppressive fire from members of the convoy, he returned a third time to the damaged vehicle to help another wounded Marine. After Hospital Corpsman First Class Flores applied a tourniquet, the wounded Marine was carried to cover where he continued to treat the casualty. Under the cover of suppressive fires by nearby Marines, he again crossed the street a fourth time to treat the final wounded Marine. Hospital Corpsman First Class Flores steadfastly refused treatment for his own wounds until all of his comrades were treated. By his extraordinary guidance, zealous initiative, and total dedication to duty, Hospital Corpsman First Class Flores reflected great credit upon himself and upheld the highest traditions of the Marine Corps and the United States Naval Service."

Chief Warrant Officer 2 Jason Flores, a Kiowa helicopter pilot in the Army, couldn’t believe they were talking about his little brother when he heard about it. Doc Flores had always been generous, always willing to spot his brother some cash, always the last to leave after cleaning up from a party. But what he did that day in Afghanistan, “It touched my heart,” Jason Flores said.

When he was wounded, Flores was two months into his tour, his third combat deployment after previous ones to Iraq and Kuwait. His wife Jerianne, his high school sweetheart and mother of their 4-year-old daughter, wanted to choke him through the telephone line when she found out he chose to remain in Afghanistan until the end, Flores said.

He stayed because of the bond between the Marines and their corpsman. “We’ve got to take care of each other.”

Before he left Afghanistan he started wearing a black metal memorial bracelet to Pruitt. It adorns his wrist even now.

“I wish we all came back,” Flores said. He thinks about Pruitt almost every day, always wondering “if there was anything I could have done more.”

Thanks very much for tonight's reading, Mayor. In the Summer of 1999, my then five-year old son was afflicted with cancer. Through a year of weekly chemo treatments, six weeks of daily radiation treatments, periodic inpatient hospitalizations for central line infections and a C. difficile infection, Mrs. MacNessa and I stood with him. During that time, we felt the Presence of our Dear Lord always at our back, lifting us in the hard times.

He does indeed have our backs!

The Grey-Haired Brigade

After today's testimony before Rep. Issa's Committee, much of which I was able to listen to, I am impelled to repost “The Grey-Haired Brigade” in dedication to the gallant Navy Seal Vets, Tyrone S. Woods and Glen Doherty, who fell in combat 11Sep2012 in Benghazi, Libya.

Their valor, deeds and sacrifices remain unacknowledged by the Obama Regime, the Fifth Column and the camp-followers and useful idiots who keep them in power.

Their Heroism on behalf of our Nation demands recognition! Now, over eight months from the day they gave their all in our defense, the Obama Regime and its minions continue to prevaricate and stonewall regarding the circumstances of the Benghazi Massacre!

Today's witnesses were unable to testify, by virtue of their security clearances and oaths of office until called by Congressional subpoena.

Where are the other thirty or more survivors of the massacre? What was their mission in Benghazi? A plethora of questions continue to fester in the wake of this debacle – and the Obama Regime is conspicuous by its silence on this fiasco!

“People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.”

"Arm yourselves, and be ye men of valour, and be in readiness for the conflict; for it is better for us to perish in battle than to look upon the outrage of our nation and our altar. As the Will of God is in Heaven, even so let it be." (1 Maccabees 3:58–60)

They like to refer to us as senior citizens, old fogies, geezers, and in some cases dinosaurs. Some of us are "Baby Boomers" getting ready to retire. Others have been retired for some time. We walk a little slower these days and our eyes and hearing are not what they once were. We have worked hard, raised our children, worshiped our God and grown old together. Yes, we are the ones some refer to as being over the hill, and that is probably true. But before writing us off completely, there are a few things that need to be taken into consideration.

In school we studied English, history, math, and science which enabled us to lead America into the technological age. Most of us remember what outhouses were, many of us with firsthand experience. We remember the days of telephone party-lines, 25 cent gasoline, and milk and ice being delivered to our homes. For those of you who don't know what an icebox is, today they are electric and referred to as refrigerators. A few even remember when cars were started with a crank. Yes, we lived those days.

We are probably considered old fashioned and out-dated by many. But there are a few things you need to remember before completely writing us off. We won World War II, fought in Korea and Viet Nam . We can quote The Pledge of Allegiance, and know where to place our hand while doing so. We wore the uniform of our country with pride and lost many friends on the battlefield. We didn't fight for the Socialist States of America , we fought for the "Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave." We wore different uniforms but carried the same flag. We know the words to the Star Spangled Banner, America, and America the Beautiful by heart, and you may even see some tears running down our cheeks as we sing. We have lived what many of you have only read about in history books and we feel no obligation to apologize to anyone for America.

Yes, we are old and slow these days but rest assured, we have at least one good fight left in us. We have loved this country, fought for it, and died for it, and now we are going to save it. It is our country and nobody is going to take it away from us. We took oaths to defend America against all enemies, foreign and domestic, and that is an oath we plan to keep. There are those who want to destroy this land we love but, like our founders, there is no way we are going to remain silent.

It was mostly the young people of this nation who elected Obama and the Democratic Congress. You fell for the "Hope and Change" which in reality was nothing but "Hype and Lies." You have tasted socialism and seen evil face to face, and have found you don't like it after all. You make a lot of noise, but most are all too interested in their careers or "Climbing the Social Ladder" to be involved in such mundane things as patriotism and voting. Many of those who fell for the "Great Lie" in 2008 are now having buyer's remorse. With all the education we gave you, you didn't have sense enough to see through the lies and instead drank the 'Kool-Aid.' Now you're paying the price and complaining about it. No jobs, lost mortgages, higher taxes, and less freedom. This is what you voted for and this is what you got. We entrusted you with the Torch of Liberty and you traded it for a paycheck and a fancy house.

Well, don't worry youngsters, the Grey-Haired Brigade is here, and in 2012 we are going to take back our nation. We may drive a little slower than you would like but we get where we're going, and in 2012 we're going to the polls by the millions. This land does not belong to the man in the Gold House nor to the likes of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. It belongs to "We the People" and "We the People" plan to reclaim our land and our freedom. We hope this time you will do a better job of preserving it and passing it along to our grandchildren. So the next time you have the chance to say the Pledge of Allegiance, Stand up, put your hand over your heart, honor our country, and thank God for the old geezers of the "Grey-Haired Brigade."

Author, Anon. Grey-Haired Brigade Member

Footnote:

This is spot on. I am another Grey-Haired Geezer signing on. I will circulate this to other Grey-Haired Geezers all over this once great county. Can you feel the ground shaking??? It's not an earthquake, it is a STAMPEDE.

Quiet Moments, Worship God.
Painful Moments, Trust God.
Every Moment, Thank God.

Awesome photos, Ma.

A quick AAR regarding the funeral of Bobby Roy,
all went off without a hitch..almost.

I was very pleased at the turnout for the Honor Guard ride,
our PGR was also joined by The American Legion Riders, and Combat Wounded Vet Riders.

No protesting cretins showed up for this ride.
*evil grin*

On a sad note, one of our riders was very seriously injured because some idiot turned in front of him, causing him and his bike to go down.

He is in ICU at a local hospital, with a serious head injury with brain swelling, multiple facial fractures, and some broken bones.

Please keep Lucien in your prayers..
Thank everyone.
