New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie underwent lap band surgery in February in hopes of losing some weight for his family fueling additional speculation that he is trying to slim down for a 2016 presidential bid.
The New York Post reported Tuesday that Mr. Christie said his friends and family helped convinced him to have the operation and that the Republican decided to have the procedure after turning 50 years old in September.
Ive struggled with this issue for 20 years, Mr. Christie told The Post. For me, this is about turning 50 and looking at my children and wanting to be there for them.

One wonders exactly where they’re going to obtain this “secret stomach”.
“Hes beyond RINO, hes a Democrat in all but name.”
Maybe he’ll run as Hillary;s VP, in a bi-partisan ticket. If she wins, she’ll lock him in a closet’
Two colleagues of mine had this surgery. It is a very serious operation. Initially both people did pretty well, and lost a lot of weight. Within a year’s time, both had an obesity problem [again].
LOL...SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHSH!
Not enough self control to eat responsibly and exercise but thinks he can exercise control of other things like profligate government spending?
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
He would be lucky to lose 100 pounds through surgery. He would have better results with a dedicated trainer and nutritionist for a reduced calorie diet.
LOLZ
I noticed that too. It is as much about what you eat as how much. I would encourage Mr. Christie to create a fitness pal account and *really* keep track of what he eats. Driving a desk as he does, he should eat 1500-1800 calories a day max. I bet he is nearly eating that at each meal.
The 2016 campaign has begun. But it’ll take more than a slimbody to develop a base on the right after “McCain-ing” conservatives as much as he has.
Unless, of course, he follows his true instincts and runs as a democrat.
I often wonder what happened to Dave, I believe his name was, that was on Subway commercials non-stop. Maybe he was caught eating at Chick-fil-a or Mickey D’s or, God forbid, gained all his weight back and then some.
Re ex-smokers, you are so right about that.
No. There was a young guy - apparently I’m not remembering his name - who lost a whole bunch of weight by eating Subway sandwiches. Been probably over a year ago - time passes so fast when you are having so much fun! Don’t pay a whole lot of attention to most commercials but seems like that one ran quite a while.
Glad to say that I’m not up-to-date on TV commercials since 2011. But I remembered Dave Thomas of Wendy’s.
