Reclusive soul superstar Lauryn Hill has been jailed over an enormous unpaid tax bill.
Fugees singer Hill, 37, was sentenced to three months' jail followed by three months' home confinement for failing to pay $500,000 to the taxman in the United States.
Hill claimed the sum was outstanding because she had "withdrawn from society" after alleged threats against her family.
She was imprisoned after failing to pay the amount within the stipulated two-week timeframe.
During her trial, Hill was ordered by the judge in Newark, New Jersey to undergo counselling because of her conspiracy theories - including that artists are being oppressed by a plot involving the military and media.
Hill pleaded guilty to charges of tax evasion last year. Her lawyers said she had paid more than $970,000 of an outstanding tax bill which amounted to more than $2m.

Well I highly doubt she is sober. She was best friends with dead crackhead Whitney Houston and quite a few times Hill has seemed to be under the influence of that stuff. To be quite honest, I think that whole extended family of hers is on it, even Whitneys aunt Dionne Warwick. Dionne is $10 million bucks in debt. How the hell you get into $10 million in debt? The woman has had umpteen hit songs.
I’ve taken a new tact when Lefties bring up slavery, as if its a current issue.
I ask them how the historical practice of slavery has prevented slavs from achieving anything, or why Muslims shouldn’t be paying reparations to Europe for having taken so many slaves during their wars of conquest.
It isn’t long before they are arguing against historical claims.

It’s important to note that she’d already paid almost $1M in back taxes. They apparently gave her an ultimatum to pay up the rest in a short time, and she couldn’t come up with the remainder.

Translation...she was charged with a felony, tax evasion. The government was able to prove beyond doubt she owed over 2 million. That does NOT include things they could not prove beyond doubt, the actual criminal evasion may have been more. Whoop de do, she paid about half of that...where is the rest??? 3 months in jail, WOW.
Funny, my guess is she’s been a BIG Obama supporter who shares Obama’s vision for a big, all-powerful government.
