I dont pretend to have all the answers, President Obama told Ohio State students at their commencement on Sunday. Im not going to offer some grand theory on a beautiful day like thisyou guys all have celebrating to do. Im not going to get partisan, either, because thats not what citizenship is about.
President Obama, stressing the theme of citizenship, said he would ask two things from the class of 2013to participate and to persevere. After all, your democracy does not function without your active participation. At a bare minimum, that means voting, eagerly and often.
Unfortunately, youve grown up hearing voices that incessantly warn of government as nothing more than some separate, sinister entity thats at the root of all our problems; some of these same voices also doing their best to gum up the works. Theyll warn that tyranny is always lurking just around the corner. You should reject these voices, the president told the graduates. Because what they suggest is that our brave and creative and unique experiment in self-rule is somehow just a sham with which we cant be trusted. We have never been a people who place all of our faith in government to solve our problems; we shouldnt want to. But we dont think the government is the source of all our problems, either.

Vote often?
Oh he’s so funny!
Voter fraud; always a good gag.
I’d be willing to bet that every one of them voted at least 10 times during the last election.
No wonder he said that. It’s what got him re-elected.
How did this guy get so damned smart that he is always lecturing us on healthcare, the economy, voting etc.?
“In this present crisis, government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem.”
January 20, 1981: From Reagan’s Inaugural Address
He says he is not going to get partsan... and yet, he did...
It’s “Vote early and often”...the RAT motto. I’ve heard them say it many times.
Must be improved teleprompters.
Yeah, conjuring up voter fraud to a group of young Dem-thugs-in-the-making, who will truly be baptised as thugs in short order when they enter the Obama economy and find NO JOBS waiting for them. Obama’s entire appeal is based on how he manages his celebrity, and how much of that magic dust he’s able to sprinkle over his constituency,so that they will flatter him as much as he flatters them.
Well, he’s gonna need at least an extra vote from each of them to ensure a Democrat win in the mid-terms, and of course, he’s hoping to weave the magic spell which JUST MIGHT allow him to run again and WIN, damn the law!
How about some burning Embassy jokes?
A riff or two about machine-guns to Narcos is sure to get me doubled-over and wheezing, too.
Maybe a crack about billy-clubs and boots on Election Day..?
Oh, this guy is a comic, for sure.
Vote often, five times a day if possible.
Big Government is indeed not the source of ALL our problems...(only about 98% of them/s;)
"Self-Rule" means when one person rules everything.
Suckers.
Seemed to me, that he told the assembled people, that they should not listen to our Bill of Rights.
He didn’t slip up. He says these things on purpose as a poke in the eye, the way he jokes about his birth certificate, knowing none of us can do a thing. I think he misprounounced “corpseman” on purpose, too, because that’s just how a military-hating, anti-American friend of Bill Ayres would.
