First paragraph excerpt:
Of all the moral precepts instilled in Buddhist monks the promise not to kill comes first, and the principle of non-violence is arguably more central to Buddhism than any other major religion. So why have monks been using hate speech against Muslims and joining mobs that have left dozens dead?

Maybe it is because all truly religious Muslims are inherently evil. Evil doesn’t succumb to non-violence.
Also, Buddhism in most of its variations has a recognition of a just war. It isn’t a suicide pact like the Jains have too often been.
I'm going to go way out on a limb and guess that you are speaking of the liberal Western press of Europe and America.
But the Dalai Lama was the one who ran away from Tibet and then told the Tibetans not to resist the Chinese.
(I do Kenpo, which is tiger and dragon style Kung Fu.)
I do Crown Royal and carry a weapon, several if I need to.
The time to deal with a problem is BEFORE it has grown to a size that makes it very difficult to fix.
The muslims have been waging a war against the Buddist in Southern Thailand for many decades, much of it goes unnoticed in western media (like everything else evil the muslims do). Buddist temples bombed, children going to Buddist schools abducted and murdered, and Buddist Monks beheaded in their own temples. The Thai government is trying to appease the muslim, without success. The Buddist are getting tired of the whole mess and fighting back. And yes, the author is partially correct, a Buddist Monk will not murder, but he can kill in defense.
Not true. He was removed from Tibet by the Khampas against his will and after his exile secretly helped his brother find funding for the Khampa resistance that went on for a decade or more afterward.
The only thing I can think of is how futile resistance would have been, especially in the cultural perspective of the Tibetans and Chinese. Definitely a wrong call by the Dalai Lama but expected.
Wow, talk about a no brainer. Monks ain't stupid and they aren't into mass suicide.
But most importantly, they are probably a little p!$$ed that mudslimes are stingy with the tithes.
if the muslims murder all the monks first, there would be no monks left.
it also makes a stupid virtue shine brightly.
you don’t murder, but killing in self-defense is not done offensively, it’s a result of the jerk attacking you and you stopping the threat.
I don't know...
..maybe because they deserve it?.....
there must be one spot in the whole world where people are attacking muslims against the hundreds of other areas where muslims are attacking everybody, and the BBC wants us all to know about this one area?????

Why? A look at what’s happened in Southern Thailand will answer that question easily. Muslim filth have been attacking Buddhists with impunity.
Sounds like Buddha’s folk have said... “No more.”
LOLMAO! Best laugh I’ve had for 3-4 days! Thanks!
