RICHARDSON ON CRUZ: 'I DON’T THINK HE SHOULD BE DEFINED AS A HISPANIC'
Breitbart ^ | 5 May 2013

Posted on 05/05/2013 4:18:56 PM PDT by mandaladon

ABC: Former New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson joined ABC News for a web interview after his appearance on the “This Week” roundtable on Sunday, answering viewer questions about his time as governor, his experience meeting with the Taliban, and his thoughts on Korean ruler Kim Jong-Un. When asked about Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, Richardson expressed his distaste for the senator.

“I’m not a fan. I know [Ted Cruz is] sort of the Republican latest flavor. He’s articulate. He seems to be charismatic, but I don’t like his politics. I think he introduces a measure of incivility in the political process. Insulting people is not the way to go. But I guess he’s a force in the Republican political system, but I’m not a fan.”

ABC News: Do you think he represents most Hispanics with his politics?

“No, no. He’s anti-immigration. Almost every Hispanic in the country wants to see immigration reform. No, I don’t think he should be defined as a Hispanic. He’s a politician from Texas. A conservative state. And I respect Texas’ choice. But what I don’t like is… when you try to get things done, it’s okay to be strong and state your views, your ideology. But I’ve seen him demean the office, be rude to other senators, not be part of, I think, the civility that is really needed in Washington.”

Zero’s dad was British subject and citizen of Kenya of the Luo tribe. His mother, Stanley Ann Dunham, is white and was born in Wichita, Kansas. So, does Bill Richardson have a thought about Zer0’s race? Or does race follow paternity?

“Does Richardson sound Hispanic to you?”

Yes, he’s Hispanic. He supports “immigration reform” or something.

Okay --- some guy named "Richardson" is saying that the guy named "Cruz" shouldn't be defined as "Hispanic"? Wow.

There is no such thing as a Hispanic. There are completely different ethnic, racial, cultural and national groups that were once part of the Spanish colonial empire.

Soo true.. total slimeball... Cruz’s politics do not have to represent Hispanics in general... and secondly, someone’s politics, or views are not what determines someone’s ethnicity... Richardson is a jackass...

Democrats used to say the same about Gingrich when he was in the minority.

Democrats want peace because they control 95% of the establishment (the government and press). Gingrich’s impolity created a spirit of revolt to succeed. Cruz appears to be doing the same.

Gov. Richardson is 50 percent hispanic American (each of his parents being one-half hispanic American origin and one-half European origin).

Sen. Cruz is 50 percent hispanic American (one parent being hispanic and the other of European origin).

This is the pot calling the kettle black.

Your point about the diverse culture that our government lumps together as “hispanic”:

You are indeed correct. What is kind of amazing is how cohesive the black community is, given its size. The so-called hispanic community is, as you point out, several identifiable groups. Same thing with the much smaller statistical group of Asians. Even the American Indians aren’t very cohesive.

Being realistic, we’re not going to win a lot of votes just because we nominate an hispanic. Maybe a few. Maybe we’ll get 40 percent instead of 30. It’s a factor to be considered, but there are many other factors.

Over time, we should fetch a growing percentage, regardless of whom we nominate, just because of their ascending the economic ladder. Same thing that happened in the past with the white ethnics (Italians, Poles, Irish and so forth). Nowadays, we don’t even distinguish white ethnics in polls (except indirectly by talking about Catholics).

Do Dems have plantations for Hispanics? Cruz has obviously wandered off the path.
